From this Friday, April 8 to Sunday, April 17, it is expected that, on the occasion of Holy Week, 2,658,493 passengers will be transported in Colombia through the country's 49 terminals, and 8,326,792 vehicles throughout the country. For this reason, the authorities announced the state of national roads, in order for passengers to avoid setbacks and, therefore, traffic congestion.

In dialogue with Caracol Radio, the technical and structuring director of Invías, Guillermo Toro Acuña, reported that, although most of the country's road corridors are enabled, roads in Nariño, such as on the Los Curos - Málaga (Santander) stretch, have total closures due to heavy rainfall and increasing which have been recorded in recent days.

On the Los Curos - Málaga corridor, in Santander, the technical director of Invías informed Caracol Radio's microphones that, at the moment, there is a total closure of the road at kilometer 88 due to the sudden increase that occurred in the El Canelo stream, which caused the fall of rocky material on the sector and, in addition, caused damage to the bridge in the area.

According to Toro, traffic authorities, relief agencies and other road collaborators are working with yellow machinery to clear the road corridor and thus enable vehicular traffic.

He also informed the same radio station that to date partial closures were reported on some roads in Antioquia and in the Pereira-Quibdó corridor, due to landslides that occurred in recent hours.

For his part, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Camilo Pabón, said in an interview with Blu Radio that, “the rest of the roads, in those places where there has been a problem, there has been a rapid response, both from Invias and the ANI”.

On the other hand, the official recalled that, from this Friday, April 8, there will be mobility restrictions for cargo vehicles in the country. “Today it starts at 3:00 in the afternoon, until 10:00 in the evening and tomorrow Saturday it starts at 6:00 in the morning,” Pabón said at the same outlet.

It should be recalled that this measure will apply throughout Colombia until next Sunday, April 17, as follows:

- Friday, April 8: 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

- Saturday, April 9: 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

- Sunday, April 10: NOT APPLICABLE.

The director of the National Road Safety Agency (ANSV), Luis Lota, reminded travelers in an interview with RCN Radio that, before moving on national roads, it is important that they carry out a review of the general condition of their vehicles, in order to avoid accidents on the roads.

“It is good to take a few minutes to test the operation of the whistle, the lights, the turn signals, the position of the mirrors, that your medicine cabinet is complete and contains everything you need. That the multipurpose fire extinguisher is current and the vehicle documentation is up to date,” Lota told the Bogota radio station.

To reduce accidents on the country's roads, the Ministry of Transport reported that the Directorate of Transit and Transport will have 6,000 uniformed personnel during Holy Week in 110 prevention and control areas along all Colombian roads.
