The legislator of the Morena Parliamentary Group, Olivia Esquivel Nava, presented a bill to the Chamber of Deputies on Thursday proposing to punish petrol stations that sell incomplete liters of fuel with up to 12 years in prison, a very common practice in stations in the country.

The reform initiative adds Article 389 Ter to the Federal Penal Code to punish this period of imprisonment, as well as a fine of up to 120 times the daily value of the Unit of Measurement and Updating (UMA), that is, up to 11,546 pesos.

Esquivel Nava clarified that it is not intended that people who work as dispatchers at gas stations are those who pay or be sanctioned, but rather to dealers, permit holders, administrators or personnel of gas stations who sell incomplete litres of fuel fuels, regardless of the mechanisms or means that use. He said this at the San Lazaro Plenary during the presentation of his initiative:

The deputy argued that the objective is to investigate and punish the active subjects, who currently resolve the wrongdoing with the payment of a fine.
