Marcelo Flores could play for the Mexican National Team in the Concacaf Nations League

Marcelo Flores, the jewel that Mexico and Canada have disputed, could definitively define its future before 2022. Although it seems difficult for the Mexican National Team to call him for the Qatar World Cup dispute, he could take a step for the Arsenal youth team to definitively defend his colors. And it is that the player of Canadian, Mexican and British nationalities could be called up for the Nations League dispute.

The Concacaf football calendar indicates the dispute of the first stage of the Nations League in the second half of this year. However, although his participation is mandatory, Gerardo Martino may not have among his priorities the dispute of the continental tournament. In that sense, in order not to compromise the integrity of its star players, it would seek to summon prospects.

Marcelo Flores, who already played a friendly match at the end of 2021 with the tricolor jersey, tops the list of players who could play in the group stage of the tournament. According to the draw carried out by the tournament organizing authorities, Mexico will lead Group A, so it will have to compete against the Jamaican and Suriname National Teams. The first match was scheduled for June 11 against the second team at a local venue, while on June 14 they will visit the Reggae Boys for the second match on the calendar.

Before Flores can receive minutes in an official match, Tata Martino would consider it for the call for the friendly match against the Guatemalan team, led by Luis Fernando Tena. The objective is to continue to discuss his role and determination with the team to give him minutes and make his way to the Concacaf Nations League dispute.

It should be mentioned that, in order for a player with more than one nationality to be able to definitively choose the team he will defend, he must receive minutes in three matches of Major Selection type A, that is, official tournaments or dates established by FIFA for the dispute of matches. In that sense, if he played against Suriname and Jamaica, he would only have the dispute of one more match left.
