With the intention of preserving and protecting the premises of the inactive railway network to provide alternative uses linked to cultural, sports, tourism and environmental activities, the Ministry of Transport and INVIAS allocated 17 billion pesos for technical auditing for contracts allocated for this type of functions with respect to infrastructure.
The auditor, Ginpro INV consortium, will supervise the progress made by the governorates of six departments involved in administrative, financial and environmental aspects in different regions of the country.
The Minister of Transport, Angela María Orozco, stressed that this audit will have a significant impact on the country's economic recovery.
On the other hand, the INVÍAS will be involved in the recovery and conservation works of 424 kilometers of the inactive railway network in which 7 projects will be implemented by the assigned governorates, namely: Antioquia: La Estrella - La Pintada, Caldas: Manizales - Chinchiná, Risaralda: Nacederos - Puerto Caldas, Quindío: Salento - Armenia - Montenegro - Quimbaya, Huila: Neiva - Golondrinas and Cundinamarca: Facatativa - Girardot and Soacha - Tequendama waterfall.
The direct beneficiaries of this contract are the departments of Antioquia, Quindio, Risaralda, Caldas, Huila and Cundinamarca, whose coverage will be one million users who will access cultural, sports, tourism and environmental activities that will strengthen the economy of the country's regions.
Called 'Green Ways of Colombia', this project will contribute to the revival of the economy. According to Minister Orozco, Colombians will enjoy the full cultural, heritage, environmental and landscape potential of these mountainous regions.
New regulations for driver's licenses, brakes and motorcycle rims are ready
New motorcycles that are assembled in Colombia or imported from abroad must have a braking system with anti-lock braking system (ABS) or combined braking system (CBS). This requirement, which is an international standard, would be verified by an accredited certification body and made essential for nationalizing imported motorcycles.
However, the Ministry warns that, once this resolution is enacted, sellers should not handle the brakes of motorcycles currently on sale, because the operation of the vehicle could be jeopardized. They are emphatic that the standard will only apply to new motorcycles, assembled in Colombia or abroad.
As for rims, they must have the technical characteristics that allow the reduction of braking distances, exposure to skidding and the improvement of load support.
As these regulations are still under study, citizens have the possibility to comment on the addition or removal of elements from each of them. To comment on the project that will establish the Logistics Evaluation Support Centers, there is a deadline until Saturday, April 9. If you have comments on the regulation of motorcycle tires and brakes, the deadline is Wednesday, April 13.
