The controversy continues, this time the presidential candidate, Gustavo Petro, defended his running mate against accusations by the president of the senate, Juan Diego Gómez, who pointed out the vice-presidential candidate for the Historical Pact, Francia Márquez, of the involvement of the ELN guerrilla in her campaign.
“He is committing crimes, I don't know what kind of advice he will have, he already has several,” said Petro, also adding that Juan Diego, “is using the presidency of the Senate criminally.”
Gustavo argued that Gomez committed a crime of insult and slander against him because he assigned her the role of victimizer when she is a victim.
Similarly, the presidential candidate nominating Juan Diego Gomez is “because she is a black woman”, so he concluded that “the president of the Senate is a racist.”
Finally, Gustavo Petro also said that Gómez has acted with “mañas pendejas”, comparing him to Senator Ernesto Macias, who was the director of that corporation, “Macias was left in his diapers,” he said.
The vice-presidential candidate of the Historical Pact, Francia Márquez, announced that she will take legal action against the president of the Senate, the conservative Congressman Juan Diego Gomez, who assured the guerrilla support in her campaign.
In addition, he indicated that Juan Diego Gómez “today is uncomfortable that a woman who could be the woman he has at home working as a service employee is going to be his vice president, that's what makes him uncomfortable.”
The vice-presidential candidate also stated that “when the president of Congress makes such a statement, what is demonstrating the level of degradation of this country's politics and the level of degradation that they have generated in the institutions of the Colombian State.”
With regard to the threats, Francia Márquez, who has denounced three against her in less than a month, stated that she has not received any response by the national government. He appealed to President Ivan Duque.
