Adalberto Martinez Chavez better known as Resortes was a Mexican actor and comedian. His peculiar nickname came from his brother Carlos Martínez who put him that way because of his strange way of walking and dancing. At first I hated his nickname, although soon after he became fond of him and even created the famous phrase that says “Snortín de la slortera, to serve you wherever and however you want, except where you want and as long as God will. with which he gained great popularity”.

He was born on January 25, 1916 in Mexico City and it was not until 1931 that the director of Tierra y Libertad allowed him to participate as an extra in his work. The origins of Resortes are humble because it grew up in Estanquillo alley number 10, in the Tepito neighborhood. His family was of limited resources, so from the age of 15 he had to work selling pallets outside the Hidalgo Theater. While working there, the actor discovered the world of show business, watched the performances of the circuses and it was thanks to working there that fate opened up an incredible opportunity for him.

Once when she performed at the theater, her mother had no knowledge that she was working on it and when she discovered it she gave her a good scolding. Resortes said in an interview that his parents never agreed with him being part of the art scene.

Something that not many people know is that he not only dedicated himself to theater and film, but also to radio and television. During his career he stood out for his ingenious humor and for his incredible way of dancing. He once made Michael Jackson's famous Moonwalk step in a part of the 1959 film Summer School. Rumors circulated that the pop singer may have been inspired by him to create his well-known dance.

She shared the scene with actors such as Germán Valdes Tin Tan, Mario Moreno Cantinflas, Antonio Espino Clavillazo, Evangelina Elizondo, and Silvia Derbez. It was thanks to the 1949 film Confidencias de un letulero that Adalberto excelled flatly in Mexican cinema because his facial expressions, his way of speaking and dancing were very original. All his talent led him to worldwide success and that is why on Calle del Estanquillo they made him a plaque commemorating his legacy.

A truly regrettable fact about the life of Resortes is that his daughter Yolanda Martínez Constance was murdered at the age of 56, as a result of an assault, on the night of May 13, 1996. She was walking in her car through the Historic Center of Mexico City on Bolivar Street where she was intercepted by a man who wanted to steal her car, as she did not agree she was shot that killed her.

The actor visited Los Pinos shortly before his death in the term of Vicente Fox, it was there that he told him that he contracted pneumonia while on the recordings of the novel Vivan los niños. He died on April 4, 2003 at the age of 87 and at his funeral one of his brothers named Raúl said that Resortes would always be remembered for representing the Mexican people through his films.

According to his acquaintances, he was an empathetic and humble human being. A few days after his death, the Notimex agency published an anecdote about how one day he was walking along the Alameda Central and found some children sleeping on the street, for this reason Adalberto took off his coat and coat to give them to them; then the little ones took out a cigarette and smoked it together. The phrase of the actor when he left was: Oh what my friends are! See you there, behave yourselves ca**.

Those who lived with Resortes were aware that he never lost his flat, in fact he made it a December tradition to go and greet, congratulate and hug his friends from the World Film Journal on Christmas Day. On April 4, the 19th anniversary of the death of Adalberto Martínez was commemorated, who will always be remembered as one of the most important comedians and dancers of the Golden Age of cinema.
