Five from the Nuevo Imperio Cartel arrested with 12,000 doses of drugs in Mexico City

Reports from federal authorities have indicated that the criminal group operates in six mayors of the country's capital and eight municipalities in the State of Mexico

Police officers in Mexico City arrested five subjects, who are identified as members of the Nuevo Imperio Cartel and were in possession of at least 12,000 doses of drugs and thousands of pesos in cash.

According to preliminary reports, the alleged criminals were arrested in an operation led by the Metropolitan Special Operations Unit (UMOE) in the Peralvillo neighborhood of the Cuauhtémoc mayor's office.

Authorities have not provided further details, however, federal authorities have indicated that the New Empire Cartel operates in six mayors in Mexico City and eight municipalities in the State of Mexico. Other of its alleged members have already been insured in recent months.
