“Do it, Don Julio!” : Correal was reminded of the 1992 anecdote after the announcement of the Guns N' Roses concert in Bogotá

The American band confirmed a concert in Bogotá for October 11. Will it be the opportunity for Axl Rose to finally sing 'Sweet child o' mine 'in the country's capital?

It's a fact: Guns N' Roses will arrive in Bogotá. Those same words were heard in 1992, when the city - and the whole country - was going through a crisis of violence that had drug trafficking as its main cause; but with all that, several businessmen, including Julio Correal - co-creator of events such as the Stereo Picnic Festival - achieved what, at that time, was a feat.

But despite all the vicissitudes generated 30 years ago, the 'gunners' return to the capital of the country and to the El Campín Stadium, an old man known for Axl Rose and his team. After the announcement of this presentation, which will be on October 11, there were not a few fans who reacted by remembering Correal's anecdote about the tragicomedy that it meant to put the group to sing in Bogotá.

“My role in the Guns N' Roses concert was that of manager,” said the businessman in the iconic story delivered to the portal 'Vice'. But in 1992 he wasn't after the rock band, but was flirting (musically, of course) with 'El General', because his song 'El meneaito' was booming in Bogotá. This is how the story began, which was evoked today by hundreds of users on social networks, especially Twitter, where as soon as the date of the concert was announced, they did not hesitate to mention the cultural manager.

Even on Thursday morning he was amazed to wake up and find the news that moved thousands of fans of the 'Guns' in Colombia.

Will Axl Rose remember Correal? If so, it will be a 'war of the titans' predicted by The Simpsons.

“Oops, these daughters are going to leave”: the 'desplante' of Guns N' Roses in the middle of the concert in Bogotá

Just when the band started playing 'November rain', a flood fell in much of the capital, including the El Campín stadium. No special effects were needed to feel the song with skin, eyes and ears and more than 55,000 souls saw how, behind Axl Rose's piano, a flood fell that worried the Americans.

At that, the vocalist told Dale Skjerseth, head of production of the band: “Hey, Opie, we're ready to get electrocuted, we're back”, and 'Don Julio', who was making a marijuana cigarette -bareto- next to a police commander, had a bad feeling and immediately ran off to the dressing rooms.

“Then I run out, fag, I go behind the stage, and I see their vans already parked with the doors open, and I - I said- 'Oops, these daughters are going to leave, fag; oops, these little daughters are going to leave, bastard, not even for the hookers,” Correal evoked Vice as he grabbed his face with both hands.; and after he sees the cars, he meets Skjerseth head-on and does not receive it in a good way.

“I confront him and tell him , Opie, motherfucker —Preguntó Correal—, where are you going? Where are you going, you bastard. He then replied, in English, that they were going to leave the stadium, causing the anger of the Colombian businessman.

Behind him were several light and sound workers, and at the crossing of words between the two characters, they backed their boss: “Do him, don Julio, make him calm, don Julio, do him”.

“It had stopped raining, and they hadn't played Sweet child o' mine 'or' Knockin 'of heaven's door', motherfuckers,” said the bogotano; but the musicians and his team left the audience waiting on the Campín grass.

Now, 30 years later, the question is, will they pay off their debt by singing those successes that were left pending on that November 28?
