Slim has been included in the Forbes list for several years now, appearing for the first time in 1991, with an estimated fortune of $1 billion. It should be noted that, to enter the list of the famous magazine, you must count on a fortune of USD 1 billion, or more.

In the last five years, the Mexican magnate's fortune has had several ups and downs. In 2018, when Mexico's current president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) came to power, Slim's fortune was estimated at $67.1 billion, according to the Forbes ranking.

After this, the tycoon's fortune fell in the following years, until 2022, when it increased. In 2019, Slim's equity was estimated to be valued at $64 billion. A year later, in 2020, this amount dropped to USD 52 billion.

By 2021, Slim managed to recover, as his fortune increased to USD 62.8 billion, which placed him 16th among the wealthiest people on the planet, and finally, this year, it was when he managed to increase his fortune the most, with the $81.2 billion he currently has, and which helped him climb three places at the global level, reaching the 13th position.

Slim's great fortune has even led him to be considered the wealthiest person in the world, this for four consecutive years, from 2010 to 2013.

The tycoon, from a very young age, entered the business world, because at just 10 years old he started his first “monkey”, putting a candy stand under the stairs of his house.

He sold the goods to his cousins and uncles, who lived with him at that time, in a house in front of Lincoln Park, in the exclusive area of Polanco. In addition, Slim opened his first checking account when he was just 12 years old, so from a very young age he was seen interest and potential in business and the world of finance.

Another of the actions that shaped Slim and his good organization and money management, was that, also as a child, his father, whose name was Julian Slim Haddad, who died when the now magnate was only 13 years old, taught him to carry a small notebook with him.
