Monserrate, during Holy Week, becomes one of the places of religious tourism most visited by Bogotá and tourists. Due to the large influx of people, the Mayor's Office of Bogotá announced different restrictions for those who want to visit the temple of the fallen lord of Monserrate.
According to the district, the church of Monserrate, the Idiger and the District Institute of Recreation and Sports (IDRD) defined for Sunday 10, Thursday 14, Friday 15, Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 April a promotion schedule from 5:00 in the morning to 12 noon. Authorities recommended that pregnant women, older adults, and children who are less than one meter tall not go up the hill, as do pets
“We are prepared for the Exodus Plan, as for the arrival of thousands of tourists who come to the city,” said Mayor Claudia López, who reported that on Tuesday, April 12, the Monserrate trail will be closed and that on Friday, April 16, there will be no cycle path in Bogotá.
The capacity will be controlled by the talanqueras because according to calculations, approximately in the holy days, there is a rise of 60,000 people daily. It is important to note that it is totally forbidden to climb the trail in a state of liquor or under the influence of hallucinogenic substances.
There are 1,605 steps at 3,200 meters high, so it is important to perform good hydration during the route and have a good state of health.
