At least 35 people were killed and 100 others were injured this Friday in a rocket attack on the station in Kramatorsk, a city in eastern Ukraine, where hundreds of people were waiting for a train to leave the region.

More than 30 people were killed and more than 100 were injured after a rocket fire at the station (...) This is a deliberate attack,” Oleksander Kamyshin, head of the Ukrainian railway company Ukrzaliznytsia, said in Telegram.

Minutes later, the rescue services reported that there were at least 35 deaths.

A reporter from the AFP news agency who came to the station earlier Friday saw hundreds of people waiting for a train to leave the region, threatened by a major Russian offensive, in the direction of other safer parts of the country.

In front of the Kramatorsk station, several charred cars and the remains of a missile were visible.

The place was strewn with abandoned suitcases, broken glass and debris. The interior of the station was covered with blood, often trampled and spread out into the street, due to the movement of the bodies.

Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky called Russia's bloody attack on the train station a “boundless evil”.

“Since they have no strength or courage to face us on the battlefield, they cynically destroy the civilian population. It's boundless evil. And if it is not punished, it will never cease,” said the president in Telegram, denouncing the inhumane methods of Russian forces.
