The community of San Joaquín, Santander, remains dismayed and concerned at the disappearance of one of its former mayors. This is Jorge Humberto Rodríguez Durán, who has not reported to his relatives for more than 25 days.
People close to the former mayor of San Joaquín reported to the Attorney General's Office the disappearance of the former local president.
According to the complaint, the 64-year-old man left the municipality mentioned, for Mogotes, Santander on March 12. According to the relatives of the disappeared person, the man took an inter-municipal bus to travel and since that happened, nothing has been heard from him again.
A brother of the disappeared man said that the last time they saw Rodríguez Durán, he was in Mogotes, hanging out with some friends.
Renowned businessman in the sector and much loved by the community
It is noteworthy that Jorge Humberto Rodríguez Durán, after having held the position of mayor of San Joaquín on two occasions, became a recognized businessman in the region. According to several local media, the man was engaged in livestock and marketing of fish and cane.
According to the first reports, there was no knowledge of any kind of threat or harassment against the former local president of the municipality located in Santander; however, it is not ruled out that his work as an entrepreneur could be a kidnapping.
The authorities are carrying out the respective investigative work to establish what could have happened with Jorge Humberto Rodríguez Durán.
It is worth mentioning that, according to local media, the missing man was the first mayor elected by popular vote and also held office twice, so he is much loved by the community of San Joaquin, Santander.
San Joaquín Mayor's Office requests support from the community
In view of the disappearance of the former mayor of San Joaquín, Santander, the current administration of that municipality requests the help of the entire community to find the whereabouts of the 64-year-old man.
Through its social networks, the municipal administration announced the disappearance of Jorge Humberto Rodríguez and asked the inhabitants of the municipality to contact the National Police if they had information that would allow them to locate the businessman.
