Shortly after saying goodbye to a difficult week for the country, the Peruvian cultural industry continues with launches and presentations that seek to highlight national talent. From musical releases, moving works and virtual premieres, the spectator has a wide range of activities to enjoy and share during the weekend. These are some of the ones you can enjoy virtually or in person.
Gala Brie pays tribute to Peruvian rock
The young Brazilian Peruvian singer-songwriter Gabriela Gastelumendi, better known as Gala Brie, has already premiered the cover of one of the best known songs by the Peruvian band Mar de Copas: “Mujer Noche”. The song will be part of her new EP that seeks to be a tribute to national rock and will feature five versions of songs chosen by the singer-songwriter as her favorite rock made in our country. All of us who go through the nineties know the song, it's iconic”, says the artist whose release is already on YouTube
“The Subway Kid” by Madeleine Truel
It is a moving book whose origin also deserves the same adjective. The story written by Peruvian Madeleine Truel was born in Nazi-occupied France during World War II when the author had to spend a long recovery season after an accident. A child's tragic experience would soon spark his imagination, create the book now published in Spanish and motivate him to join the French Resistance where he forged documents in order to save Jews.
“El niño del metro” will be presented in our country today Thursday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Escena Libre bookstore located at 1075 Camino Real Avenue, San Isidro and will feature the participation of Hugo Coya and Melissa Pérez García.
“The Art of Transforming Yourself”
The well-known Association of Amateur Artists stages a play based on a self-help book. “The Art of Transforming Yourself” proposes a journey back in time to the memories of the main character. The clash with the past will serve as an introspective exercise to identify the essence of the personality and opt for the detachment of the expectations that others generate about you. For the director, Mónica Talavera, the play invites us to rethink our dreams, our identity, what we forget and leave behind when we lose ourselves in the dangerous routine and live every day with the idea of achieving everything before leaving this world.
The only four performances will be on April 7, 8, 9 and 10 at 8 p.m. at the Amateur Artists Association located in Jr. Ica 323 Cercado de Lima. Tickets available on the Instagram profile of “El arte de transformarte oficial”.
“Wagner & Strauss”
The National Youth Bicentennial Symphony Orchestra will pay tribute to two important figures in classical music such as Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss. Wagner's “Idyll of Siegfried” is a work inspired by the birth of his son Siegfried Wagner (1869) and his controversial marriage to Cosima Liszt (1870), who received the score as a birthday present. On Strauss's side, the pieces “Metamorphosis” will be performed, which arises from the strong impression that the author receives when he learns that the National Theatre in Munich, his hometown, was destroyed during a bombardment near the end of the Second World War.
The concert will be broadcast for free on Friday, April 8 at 8:00 p.m. from the Facebook account of the Grand Teatro Nacional.
“Pademials”
A new web series hits screens, but this time it will explore what it's like to meet friends and old acquaintances after going through two years of pandemic. The story features Pancho, a young man who only seeks to socialize and does so through a reunion with his classmates who will only generate surprise after surprise. “Pandemials” features performances by Gabriel Gil, Jesús Oro, Ale Reyes, Sebastián Ramos, Ingrid Altamirano and Diego Cooper.
The premiere will be this Sunday, April 10 at 8:00 p.m. through the “Pandemials” YouTube channel.
