The violence in Celaya does not stop. In the last 24 hours there have been three executions and the discovery of the body of a woman.

The first event was reported around eight o'clock in the morning. On the Salamanca-Querétaro highway, motorists noticed that on one side of the road, near the Laja River, there was a body lying there.

The body was reportedly tied to the limbs with cinnamon tape and had a head wound, allegedly caused by a gunshot.

The site was attended by elements of the National Guard Roads Division, Criminal Investigation agents and experts from the Forensic Medical Service. The victim was not identified on the site but it was reported that he was a young man.

The second incident occurred in the community of Jáuregui, 14 kilometers from the municipality of Celaya, where neighbors found the body of a young man approximately 25 years old in an irrigation canal. Unofficially, it was reported that he was a member of the community.

Around 2:00 p.m., an argument about a traffic accident resulted in a gunshot attack. The events occurred when the crew of a compact Matix vehicle, two teenagers and a young woman, accidentally crashed into a white van on the Manuel J. Clouthier axle.

After a verbal discussion, the young men moved away from the mishap and the men in the van chased them through the streets of the Hacienda del Bosque neighborhood, at the same time they attacked them with a firearm.

One of the Matix crews asked the neighbors of the area for help and they called the emergency number 911. Authorities attending the emergency recorded five bullet wounds in the vehicle body.

In addition to these events, an anonymous call early Wednesday reported the presence of a female body lying on the shore of a dirt road in the community of Jovoquí, in Apaseo el Alto el Grande. The victim was about 40 years old.

On Tuesday, April 4, a family was attacked as they left a circus in their private car in what would be a hit attack. The most impactful thing about the case was that the victims of the attack were a father and his daughter.

Witnesses to the attack claimed to have heard up to six detonations, but fortunately the minor was not hit by any of the bullets. His father was also unharmed.

In recent days, the bodies of two men were found in the community of La Cruz, Celaya, with obvious signs of violence and accompanied by a message written by members of organized crime.

It was presumed that the message was written by members of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel due to the acronym C.S.R.L. found in the message; and according to unofficial information, those executed would be members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

On March 22, a van with seven burned bodies was found south of Celaya, victims who were later identified as members of the musical band The Chuparrecios, originally from the town of Juan Martín, near the capital of Guanajuato.

In April 2021, Celaya led the “2020 Ranking of the 50 Most Violent Cities in the World” with 109.38 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants. In the presentation of the report, the organization warned that 7 of the 10 most violent cities in the world are Mexican: Celaya in first place, Tijuana in second, Ciudad Juarez in third, Ciudad Obregon in fourth, Irapuato in fifth place, Ensenada in sixth and Uruapan in eighth.
