Youth on the Move is the name of the call with which the Ministry of Culture seeks to reach the population between the ages of 18 and 28, through the provision of economic incentives for the development and/or strengthening of training, creation, circulation and artistic and cultural research projects in urban contexts or rural areas, in various fields of culture, arts and cultural heritage.

“Youth in Movement” is a program to finance projects of Colombian youth artistic groups with which we seek to ensure that young people who dedicate their lives to various artistic expressions such as music, dance, theater, literature can count on economic incentives that support their artistic training to continue developing its cultural projects in all territories of the country. This call has resources of 10 billion pesos in which artistic groups according to the number of members can apply with resources up to 20 million pesos,” said Minister of Culture Angélica Mayolo.

In this way, 4,584 young people from 958 groups or groups have already been funded, whose participation reached 581 municipalities throughout the country during its first version. In 2022 each winner will receive between 5 and 20 million pesos, depending on the formation of the group or group.

-Continuity of projects

Collectives or artistic or cultural groups that won the 2021 call, and which for this version propose the continuity of their project in a new phase that involves the strengthening of the previous initiative and a commitment to its sustainability.

Finally, within the process of evaluating the proposals introduced as a novelty by a jury bank, it will be determined by the quality, scope, linkage of ethnic groups, population groups or people in vulnerable conditions, among other criteria, it will select the best proposals of young Colombians.

“We participated in the call for young people on the move with the first women's batucada proposal in the town of San Cristóbal, we were able to develop an intergenerational project with local women and in spaces of resignification. Young people have to take ownership of our role in society in cultural and artistic events, we have the faculties, capacities and hearts to contribute to the country and rebuild the social fabric through art and culture,” said Valentina Camacho, member of the Timbau music collective winner of the 2021 version.
