In the last hours, the vallenato singer Iván Villazón published on his social networks a video of the official song with which the Vallenata Legend Festival 2022 will be inaugurated, which will take place from April 26 to 30 and in which a tribute will be paid to the late singer Jorge Oñate.
At a press conference in Valledupar, what will be the official song of the festival was presented, less than 20 days after the start of the biggest and most important festival of vallenato folklore.
The composer of the lyrics is the vice-president of the Vallenata Legend Foundation, Efraín the monkey Quintero Molina, and played by Iván Villazón and Elder Dayán Díaz, and will also have as a special guest in the accordion the 2005 vallenato king, Juan José Granados.
The song is a tribute to the 'Goldfinch of America' for its great and historical musical legacy, which includes songs such as 'I did not understand your love', 'The invincible', 'The Testament', 'Alice adorada', among others, that will never stop playing in a party.
Jorge Oñate and his history at the Vallenata Legend Festival
His first intervention was in 1972, when he was the voice of accordionist Miguel Antonio López Gutiérrez, the same one who accompanied him on the path of adapting his voice to his instrument. On that occasion she sang the walk 'Qué dolor', authored by Luis Enrique Martínez; 'Dina López', a merengue composed by Vicente Munive; the son 'Wealth is not the silver', by Francisco 'Pacho' Rada, and Juan Muñoz's puja, 'La vieja Gabriela'.
20 years later he did the same task but together with his son, Álvaro López, also with the four airs: for the puja, he played 'The Bird of My Grandfather', authored by Romualdo Brito; by son, he sang 'Pueblo Vallenato' by Miguel Herrera. For a walk, he intervened with 'La Loma' by Samuel Martínez, and the merengue 'Rosita', by Luis Enrique Martínez. In both editions, father and son won the crown.
At the same time, Oñate himself had declared on several occasions: “I was born with the Vallenato Festival, the best festival in the world, I say this with pride. The Vallenato Festival brings poetry, brings accordion and brings singing.” In fact, it was planned to pay tribute to him in the 53rd edition as 'La Leyenda', when it was in 2020. On that occasion, the arrival of the pandemic in the country forced the postponement of the festival, which was also going to pay tribute to the guajiro composer, Rosendo Romero.
On the occasion of the Vallenata Legend Festival they ask to strengthen the vaccination plan in Valledupar
In view of this event, the Attorney General's Office urged the mayor of Valledupar, Mello Castro González, to strengthen the vaccination plan in the capital of Cesar.
The Public Ministry asked the local president to strengthen epidemiological surveillance measures to achieve coverage of 70% of those vaccinated with a complete scheme against covid-19, before the celebration of the 55th version of the Vallenata Legend Festival, which is getting closer.
This request was made following a surveillance process carried out by the supervisory body, in the midst of measures that seek to prevent infections from increasing again in the national territory.
In addition, the preventive action seeks to ensure that Valledupar reaches the percentage of vaccinated population established by the national government to be able to circulate in open spaces without requiring the use of a mask. Percentage at which the capital of Cesar has not yet reached, so this biosecurity measure remains mandatory in all areas of that territory.
