The Metropolitan Police of Bogotá announced that they will pay for information leading to the capture of the protester who assaulted a uniformed man in the mobilization of motorcyclists.

Although it seems that the mobilizations and negotiations of motorcyclists have come to an end, following the latest pronouncements by the mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, on restrictions on motorcyclists, due to safety issues, an altercation was reported during the protests.

One of these incidents occurred yesterday on Calle 63 and Avenida Caracas, where two policemen accompanying the march, on a motorcycle, were attacked by a “protester” with a kick, which seconds later caused them to be knocked out of the vehicle, as can be seen in the following video.

In the midst of the motorcyclists' marches in Bogotá, a policeman was assaulted by an alleged demonstrator on 63rd Street and Caracas Avenue.

The images disseminated on social networks generated various comments, such as that of the Bogotá councilwoman, by the Green Alliance, Lucia Bastidas, who, in addition to spreading the video, said: “Assaulting the Police. It's not like that. Peaceful protests, please. Secretary of Security, where are the cameras that identify this attacker?

Hours later, the councilwoman spoke about these measures, assuring that citizens should contribute to the issue of security:

Major General Eliécer Camacho Jiménez, commander of the Bogotá Metropolitan Police, announced that the institution is offering up to 10 million pesos in reward for information leading to the capture of the person who assaulted the uniformed during the mobilization of motorcyclists yesterday, April 6.

He adds that the Police will initiate an investigative process before the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation in order to prosecute the subject of the video.

The demonstrations that lasted 3 days, beyond generating blockades and/or restrictions on Bogotá's mobility, were characterized as peaceful, without generating altercations, quarrels or vandalism during the protests.

He adds that there will be a pedagogy process to ensure that the measures are duly explained and disseminated, so that the start date when these regulations will come into effect will be from Monday, April 18.
