At the end of the Security Council held in the municipality of Thames (Antioquia), the departmental authorities announced the increase in the reward for information that would allow us to find the killer of the cattle farmer Jorge Hernández. The Police and the Government offer up to 50 million pesos to the person who helps to find his whereabouts.

Brigadier General Gustavo Franco, commander of Region 6, said that “a special team from the Dijin will take over the investigation of the case in support of the criminal investigation units that have been conducting on-site inspection since yesterday.”

The murder of the rancher occurred around 7:20 on the night of Tuesday, April 5. According to the authorities' report, the man was on his estate, in Thames, when a stranger requested to communicate with him. Apparently, the subject entered the farm and once identified the farmer, drew a firearm and shot him on several occasions.

The victim was taken to Antonio Roldán Betancur hospital in La Pintada, where he died. The inspection of the body was carried out by Sijin personnel in the Santa Barbara area. This 56-year-old rancher from Antioquia was the son of civil engineer Jorge Hernández Restrepo, former manager and partner of the newspaper El Colombiano and executive president of the economic newspaper La República.

For his part, the mayor of Támeseis, Juan Martín Vásquez, announced that there will be a joint patrol between the Army and the National Police, throughout the region of the municipality and its surrounding areas. “At the moment they are in the northern territory of the municipality of Thames, generals of the Fourth Brigade and Region 6 of the Police, also of the Attorney General of the Nation and the Sijin,” Vásquez said.

According to the official police version, a guy entered the rancher's farm, gained the butler's trust by telling him that he had worked with the victim and when Hernandez entered, the man shot him in front of one of his three daughters.

Colonel Iván Duzán, deputy commander of the Antioquia Police Department, said that “activities are being carried out in the search for the offender. A spoken portrait of the perpetrator is being made with the administrator. When the individual arrives at the farm, he argues that he knows him and that he worked with him, to wait for the person who is killed,” said the officer.

The case was taken directly by the commander of the Antioquia Police, Colonel Daniel Mazo, who has already traveled to the area to start the respective investigations. At the time of the events, her daughter was present but was unharmed.
