The band formed by Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, Dizzy Reed, Richard Fortus, Frank Ferrer and Melissa Reese; Guns N' Roses had a Colombian performance pending. After the cancellation, due to the pandemic, of the Estéreo Picnic Festival in which they would be presented in 2020, fans of the North American group were left waiting for the announcement of a new date for artists in the country.
This Thursday, April 7, was the day when the Guns N' Roses made it official on their website, they will return to Colombia next October 11 at the Nemesio Camacho El Campín Stadium. In other words, The 'Gunners' return to Campín after 30 years, because in 1992 it was the first time that the hard rock group performed in the country, an event remembered for a great rain amid the performance of 'November Rain' and several excuses.
“Guns N' Roses is adding 9 more shows in South America! Do not miss the opportunity to see the band live in Brazil and Colombia in the fall of 2022”, read on the official website of the group and added that the information about the pre-sale for ballots will be released in each country very soon.
According to the announced dates, Colombia will be the country in which the band ends its South American tour. The 'Gunners' will also be in Argentina (September 30), Uruguay (October 2), Chile (October 5), Peru (October 8) and Bogotá, Colombia (October 11). They will then travel to Mexico, where they have dates for October 15, 18, 21 and 23 in Mérida, Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey, respectively.
While the announcement, for Brazil, includes seven dates in that country in Goiania, Belo Horizonte, Reberiao Preto, Florianapolis, Curibita and Porto Alegre.
It is worth mentioning that the band floor Colombian floor for the last time in 2016, during the reunion tour Not In This Lifetime Tour, whose presentation was held in Medellin. However, their fans remember with greater fondness the first time they saw the hard rock band play in their country.
It was in 1992, precisely at the Nemesio Camacho El Campín stadium, when Julio Correal and another group of businessmen took on the difficult task of bringing the famous artists, and although there were excesses and troubles everywhere, they remember this feat as a great success.
Even the 'Gunners' themselves remember that presentation in Bogotá, since during their performance of 'November rain' it began to rain in the capital, which triggered madness between them and their followers.
“It's the only time this has happened at a concert while we're playing that song. The stadium was filled with a kind of steam, like a mist, and everything was bleached. The rain and the haze vanished as soon as the song ended,” Slash, the band's guitarist, told Semana Magazine in 1997.
In fact, Julio Correal himself was the one who recently confirmed that the band was planning to return to the country and carry out that pending performance. “Eye! Attentive! How so? I already found out and a Chilean newspaper also broke the news, that Guns N' Roses is planning a 2022 tour of Latin America and that Colombia is included there,” he said in a video on his social networks.
The Chilean newspaper to which Correal mentioned is ADN, which anticipated at the end of 2021 that the band would perform at the Estadio Nacional in that country on October 5, 2022 and that, in turn, will take advantage of their arrival in Latin America to also visit Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Argentina and Brazil, where they have already confirmed their participation in the Rock in Rio festival.
