Four months after the assassination of Jacobo Razón Avayou, a member of the Mexican Jewish community and president of the National Emergency Commission, more details of the circumstances surrounding his death have been revealed in recent days.

On November 28, his body was found in a place at kilometer 17 of the Picacho-Ajusco highway, south of Mexico City. The capital's prosecutor's office detailed that he was face down, with handcuffs on his hands and industrial tape that surrounded his face and covered his mouth, in addition to being partially covered with a white blanket.

Investigations by the Ministry of Citizen Security (SSC) revealed that on November 25 Razón left her home in Cuajimalpa aboard a black Hyundai van to ratify a complaint against the Commission delegate in Sonora for the crime of embezzlement.

The city's C-5 cameras captured that the Hyundai had been followed since it left the house by a black Mazda that was manned by former SSC police officer Humberto Felipe Sánchez Reyes and his girlfriend Joselin Nava Montañez. Both were wearing police uniforms.

On Avenida Stim, in the Lomas del Chamizal neighborhood, an SSC patrol with registration number MX-728-P2 stopped Razón, and after a brief exchange of words, the former policeman and his partner got into the Jewish community member's van and took him off the wheel to take him away against his will.

According to the investigation, that patrol that had marked his halt had been requested by Humberto Felipe himself through the “Mi Policía” application, who pretended to the officers as active inspector general and ordered them to arrest Razón.

The last camera captured, between 9:07 and 10:50 at night, the passage of Hyundai towards the south of the city. Authorities suspect that Sanchez Reyes and Joselin probably took Razón to the Taati Keri huts, located in Ajusco, where he was interrogated, tortured and the electronic key card removed from his apartment in Santa Fe.

Throughout the day, Sánchez Reyes was in contact with a man identified as the mastermind of the kidnapping: Eugenio Manuel Fernando Salazar Treviño, a seller of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) cartridges.

In the messages, reviewed by the authorities, Salazar Treviño instructed the former policeman to go to the department of Razón in Santa Fe and take out some suitcases with money. “If they go as officers, there should be no detail” and “You are going to see the suitcases there and in the suitcase there is the resource” were some of the messages discovered by the agents.

The last message said: “Maybe they have to finish the mission and throw away the garbage.” The police believe that this was the indication for Razón to be killed and his body abandoned in a place in Ajusco.

A week later Sanchez Reyes and his girlfriend were arrested. In December, the former policeman woke up dead in his cell. The official version claimed that it had crashed. Fernando Salazar Treviño was recently arrested in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco.
