The house needs to be cleaned and sometimes we need to know how to remove moisture, which most appears in winter seasons. This can affect the structure of housing, and the health of people due to the formation of fungi and malignant microorganisms. Is there a way to eliminate it.
Specialist Antonio Cotera, from Paco Wavin, assured Correo that moisture in the walls is generated by various factors such as: the seepage of water from pipes buried in the ground, floors and false floors; problems in the pipes and drainage fittings; and the use of adulterated products and even poor labor, which from incorrect handling of the product to carrying out poorly elaborate tests.
Other factors that generate moisture occur during installation. The expert pointed out that a common mistake in this process is to incorrectly pressurize the pipes, using a hydraulic test. This is designed to verify the tightness of the system and not to check the quality of the tubes. “The effectiveness of a pipeline is checked in a laboratory and it is before buying it,” said the expert.
HOW TO AVOID IT?
In order to avoid the consequences of moisture, it is necessary to know how to identify symptoms in the structure of the home. These can be the bad smell, the appearance of mold, the shedding of leaks or paint. In that sense, all these signs can cause the deterioration of the house to be much faster than it allows to generate an unpleasant aesthetic effect.
“It is important to pay attention to these signs, because it not only affects homes, but also poses a risk to the health of those who live in them, causing diseases such as asthma, sinusitis, respiratory allergies, among others,” Cotera said.
TRUCOS PARA COMBATIR LA HUMEDAD
1. The solution to the presence of moisture depends on the level of severity in which it is located. If it is superficial, you should choose to place a film that prevents water seepage and separate the furniture from the affected area. Otherwise, it will be necessary to go to a specialist who checks the place of water leakage and carry out its repair, as recommended by Cotera.
On the other hand, the specialist also suggests planning the construction of the home using high quality building materials that offer a guarantee of long-term safety.
2. To combat moisture, it is first necessary to locate and define the area to be corrected, then start cleaning and removing the affected material. Then it has to be cured with a waterproofing agent, add a filling like a quick-drying mortar, then paste it with a white paste ready to use for indoor and outdoor surfaces. Finally, paint.
3. Another alternative is to leave doors and windows open to prevent the accumulation of mold, mites and other impurities. The air helps to dry moisture naturally and prevents the ideal environment for the creation of fungi and bacteria.
4. Finally, you can also use baking soda to remove stains and odor from moisture from your walls. You need to put it directly on the affected areas, leave it on for two hours, and then remove it with the help of a brush. This will work to remove moisture from the walls.
