Roberto Sánchez confirmed that Pedro Castillo is evaluating changes in the ministerial cabinet

The Minister of Commerce pointed out that everything in the cabinet have always put their positions at the disposal of the president and ruled out that the facts are.

On April 7, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Roberto Sánchez, testified to the press and said that the positions of the ministers are always at disposition, so he confirmed that Pedro Castillo is constantly evaluating possible changes in the cabinet.

His statements came after the president's counselor, Daniel Salaverry, also stated that he had advised the the president made some adjustments in the cabinet of ministers and the latter had been in favor of that proposal.

“Our positions are always available. We have said that time and time again to the president. This is not an individual responsibility, it is a public, political, social, personal, professional responsibility and we are always ready for that ongoing evaluation as well,” he said.

Similarly, the Minister stated that he did not know exactly what the councillor's statements had been and pointed out that they could be due to personal statements.

On the other hand, Sánchez pointed out that the entire Executive acknowledges and makes mea culpa of the mistakes made in these eight months of administration, but also stated that this period of time is too short to address all the “gaps of other times”.

“I think there are shortcomings in all public entities, deficiencies that have to do with the postponed suspended lawsuits that the country has. Seven, eight months of government, however proactive, are not going to solve gaps of other times. However, we assume self-criticism. But also the will to do things well, to solve the problems of the country and that soon we will also be playing,” he said.

ANÍBAL TORRES DENIES THAT HE IS GOING TO RESIGN

However, on Wednesday, April 6, at a press conference, Prime Minister Aníbal Torres ruled out that he had presented his letter of resignation in the face of rumors that seven of his ministers, including him, had stepped aside after the deaths in conflicts due to the stoppage of carriers.

“I inform you that I have not submitted my resignation, the cabinet is very solid. I am very happy with this team that has been working for the good of the country. In terms of vaccination, for example, we have placed it among the first countries in the world. In the area of education, most school premises have been restored, some will be lacking. Intense work is being done to help the most vulnerable people,” Torres replied.

The moment I submit my resignation from the ministry, to the award, I will do so with great joy, as you see me right now, and with great loyalty. I am not going out to criticize the president or the cabinet of ministers, that is lack of loyalty, that is lack of honesty. That means that I have only been in office for the remuneration, for the monthly fee. That's not why ministers are here. The president can restructure his cabinet at any time,” he added.

After denying that he had resigned from office, the prime minister declared that Pedro Castillo's government is not communist, as it had been adjectivated throughout the eight months of government and especially in the demonstration on April 5.

“Our work does not mean that we are communists. How many times have I told you that in the government of President Castillo there is not a single act that is about the expression or manifestation of that policy,” he said.

“We follow the policy that is enshrined in the Constitution, which is the Social Market Economy, which also requires that the fight against monopolies and oligopolies be seriously combated. It is precisely these powers, among others, that want to bring down President Castillo, but that is not going to stop us,” he continued.
