A week after confirming the elimination of the Colombia team heading to Qatar 2022, the Colombian Football Federation has not made an official statement on the future of Reinaldo Rueda at the helm of the Tricolor.
The Vallecaucano who arrived at the beginning of 2021 as the salvador after the knockout suffered in the qualifying round against Uruguay and Ecuador, which led to the departure of the Portuguese technical director Carlos Queirioz, failed to achieve the final goal of qualifying Colombia to its seventh World Cup winner.
After the end of the game in Puerto Ordaz against Venezuela in which despite the victory Colombia had no chance of playing the repechage, the former Flamengo coach admitted that his continuity depended on qualifying for Qatar 2022.

Likewise, prior to the Colombia national team's match against Bolivia on March 24, Gol Caracol journalist Javier Hernández Bonnet stated in Noticias Caracol that, if he did not qualify for the World Cup with Colombia, Reinaldo Rueda would be the new coach of Atlético Nacional.
Several media outlets stated that Rueda's contract with the federation had ended after the failure of the qualifying rounds, so the coach will not receive compensation for being dismissed from office.
At the time, Caracol Radio's sports journalist Diego Rueda pointed out that Reinaldo Rueda would not continue under the leadership of the national team, since the existence of a conditional clause in the contract would define his immediate future as the helmsman of the national team.
However, other versions suggest that the contractual bond of former Chilean coach is still in force and expires until June, when the Federation's managers would make a decision on the matter.
Through the official Twitter account, the journalist of Win Sports Pipe Sierra wrote that there is no clause that determines the end of the cycle in the Colombia national team.
The journalist even mentions that initially Reinaldo Rueda's project at the head of the Colombian national team was planned until 2026, and that the federation can extend it.
In his second cycle for the Colombia national team, Reinaldo Rueda led a total of 22 matches with a record of seven wins, 10 draws and five losses.
