Natalia Durán started a new process against thyroid cancer: “I feel ready and strong”

The actress underwent radioactive therapy to remove any thyroid tissue that was not destroyed by her three past surgeries

Just over a year ago, Natalia Durán revealed to the public that she suffers from thyroid cancer, which has undergone a tough recovery process that, last Wednesday, began a new stage.

According to the actress's most recent Instagram stories, her thyroid gland absorbs almost all the iodine from her body, after which she chose to use radioactive iodine (RAI, also called I-131) to treat the disease.

According to the American Cancer Society, this treatment can be used to remove any thyroid tissue that has not been destroyed by surgery, as well as to treat some types of thyroid cancer that have spread to the lymph nodes and other parts of the body.

Similarly, Natalia Durán showed the suit and even the bathroom she will wear these days, considering that her body will emit radiation for some time, after receiving RAI therapy.

In addition, she was grateful to those who gave her some details for these days, such as an electric rose quartz heart given to her by her colleague Rafael Zea, yellow flowers that were given to her by close friends and incense sticks given to her by an unknown woman.

The actress of 'Open Heart' and 'Armored Hearts' has already undergone three surgeries, but the thyroid cancer has been so strong that it metastasized to various parts of the body, so she has had to look at other types of treatments and processes that allow her to extend her life.

According to what was stated by the 40-year-old caleña in a courageous story she published last week, during her early years and at the hands of Fernando Segura, her biological father, she became a victim of sexual and psychological abuse.

In addition, she removed another painful memory by mentioning that, years later, two of her cousins also forcibly accessed her carnally.

This type of violence, she said, created in her a lack of self-acceptance with respect to her body, which added to the demands of a society and industry in which physical attractiveness is highlighted, and she ended up having a breast prosthesis implant.

“It was a body that didn't belong to me, in which I always felt very uncomfortable, I felt that something wasn't right with me,” she explained.

Because of the increase in her breasts, Durán began to develop a series of symptoms that, after several years of medical examinations and studying herself, she noticed that they are very similar to those of a person suffering from Asia syndrome, caused by the presence of this type of prosthesis in the body. Subsequently, doctors confirmed the presence of this disease in his body.
