Through his Twitter account, Miguel Uribe lashed out against the mayor of Bogotá. According to him, the local president 'was great' to take care of the problems that are currently affecting the Colombian capital. The politician stressed that currently insecurity and traffic are out of control. This week, in fact, there were demonstrations by motorcyclists who did not agree with what was initially raised by the local administration about the restrictions that were intended to be imposed on the transport of barbecues.
“Mobility collapsed in Bogotá and insecurity skyrocketed. Claudia Lopez failed. It was great for him to rule. He won with lies and this is the consequence,” he wrote on his Twitter account. This accusation joins a previous one in which he accuses the mayor of 'sponsoring' the groups that participated in the Colombian demonstrations of the national strike. “The first line was sponsored by Petro, Bolivar, Cepeda and Claudia López. As I warned you during the lockdowns, this is a criminal organization that Petro now intends to pardon. We are not going to turn the country over to terrorism,” he added.
Despite the accusations made by Uribe, Lopez recently revealed that he reached an agreement with the motorcyclists. “We respect the protest of motorcyclists, but we ask them not to affect the mobility of those who ride by car or Transmilenio. I invited you today at 6 pm to listen to them and close the final adjustments to the decree. We all contribute and we all take care of our safety and coexistence (...) With the motorcycle organizations we agreed: only male barbecue is prohibited; visible identification on helmet or vest; measures in effect since April 18; reinforce work with support networks; joint monitoring once a month. We all contribute, we all take care”, wrote the mayor.
“I thank all the motorcyclists in the city, merchants, citizens, families and all the people of Bogota who are aware that with union and solidarity we all take care of ourselves and overcome any difficulty. We talked, agreed and agreed,” he added.
On the morning of this Thursday, 7 April, the Mayor revealed what had happened in the Security Council in recent hours. He highlighted that the indicators for the first quarter of 2022 were evaluated. “From early on we met at the Integrated Counter-Terrorism and Electoral Security Council (CI3T) held in Bogotá, from there we coordinated intelligence support and joint army and police patrolling to take care of the city. At 9:30am we will have Security Council (...) We follow up on the implementation of the anti-robbery command, the reward strategy and the plan to ensure security at Easter,” he clarified.
“We are moving to meet our goal of a 15% reduction in homicides. In the first quarter of the year they decreased by 11.59%. Other crimes that were reduced compared to the same period in 2021 were: extortion and domestic violence, and shoplifting, residences and bicycles,” he argued.
As he pointed out, the reward strategy has been 'a success'. Thanks to information from citizens, she says, eight people were arrested for homicide. Under the Citizen Security Act, 2,282 persons were captured.
For the period of Holy Week, Claudia López explained that in order to guarantee security for those days, there will be the work of 3,600 more police officers 'to ensure the tranquility of Bogotá, Bogota and tourists'. “We are preparing for Easter. 760,000 vehicles will enter or leave Bogotá. To facilitate mobility in entrances and exits of the city we will have Plan Exodus, Plan Retorno and Santo Domingo that most citizens return there will be regional Pico and Placa”, he announced.
