In a statement, the Mexico City Metro said that next month work will begin on the intervention on Line 1, which involves the maintenance of civil works and the renovation of the system of tracks and electrical appliances. He mentioned that the work will be carried out at night in order to prevent the operation of trains and the service to users from being affected.
Once the preparatory phase is over, the major intervention will take place, which is projected to take place in two stages: from Pantitlán to Balderas in a first phase to begin in the second half of this year and after Balderas to the Observatory in 2023.
“Line 1 will be in service for 53 years next September and the major intervention in the tunnel, as well as the incorporation of 29 new trains, will reduce user travel times; the new Line 1 will have an impact on the rest of the network,” the statement said.
Due to the characteristics of the rehabilitation of this part, which will involve the dismantling of all elements of the road, it will be necessary to suspend the service to users, this will be warned in time so that citizens take their precautions and prevent mobility alternatives and transfer times.
