The Chilean drama La jauría will return to the small screen this April 22 through Prime Video. Inspired by the rape case “La manada”, in Spain, the story focuses on a police investigation that follows in the footsteps of a group — connected via a mobile application — known as “La jauría”. Under this pseudonym, unidentified subjects commit sexual assault against students of a Catholic school.
The first season was released in July 2020 and was broadcast on Chilean television in November of that same year. Given its success, the digital platform decided to renew it for a second season, and it will finally arrive in April 2022. The production is directed by renowned filmmaker Lucia Puenzo and the cast features Antonia Zegers, Daniela Vega (A Fantastic Woman), Paula Luchsinger, Antonia Giesen, Giannina Fruttero, Clemente Rodriguez, Giordano Rossi and Mariana Di Girolamo.
“Blanca, a student leader of the feminist movement in a school in toma, disappears: hours later the group rape of the young woman goes viral. A police squad of three women unite and endanger their lives and that of their families, in order to find her. As they search for Blanca and advance the investigation, they will reveal that behind this gender-based crime there is much more than just one culprit,” says the official synopsis of La Jauría.
How will this intriguing story continue? The police squad specializing in gender crimes will have to face unknown forces and the almost untouchable economic elite, as they try to overthrow a web of violence against women that is controlled from the Deep Web. However, this task will not be easy, since they will also weigh their own demons and the relationship with their loved ones in their personal lives.
The new season will feature eight episodes of 45 minutes each and will be directed by Lucia Puenzo, Nicolás Puenzo, Sergio Castro and Marialy Rivas. The series is produced by Fabula and co-produced and distributed by Fremantle. The executive production features Fremantle's Christian Vesper, as well as Juan de Dios Larraín and Pablo Larraín, Angela Poblete and Mariane Hartard through Fabula. It is distributed to Latin America and Spain through Prime Video.
The new episodes of the acclaimed Chilean fiction La jauría will be released on April 22 on the streaming service.
