INE imposed precautionary measures on several federal officials for promoting the Revocation of Mandate

The Complaints and Complaints Commission of the National Electoral Institute (INE) determined that several federal government officials such as the Minister of the Interior, Adán Augusto López; the Secretary of Culture, Alejandra Fraustro; Rocío Nahle Garcia, Secretary of Energy; and Tatiana Clouthier, Secretary of Culture, Secretary of Economy, among others, violated the Constitution by promoting the Revocation of Mandate to be held next Sunday, April 10.

In a virtual session, the members of the commission decided to impose precautionary measures and in preventive care ordered that their acts be adjusted to the legal framework.

In a communiqué, the Commission “considered it necessary to give once again a reminder to public servants of the obligation to conduct themselves with impartiality and neutrality in order not to influence, in any way, citizen opinion”.

The INE determined that other officials such as the Undersecretary for Security and Citizen Protection, Ricardo Mejía Berdeja; the Senator of Morena, Armando Guadiana; the Governor of Veracruz, Cuitláhuac García Jiménez; the Secretary of Public Security of Veracruz, Hugo Gutiérrez Maldonado; the Governor of Sonora , Alfonso Durazo Montaño, as well as Mario Martín Delgado, president of Morena's National Executive Committee, violated the electoral ban on the citizens' consultation that will take place next Sunday.

The INE decision comes after the parties Acción Nacional (PAN) and the Democratic Revolution (PRD), requested preventive protection from the INE against various first-level officials at both the state and federal levels, for the dissemination of government propaganda during a prohibited period and promotion undue, resulting from the publication of videos and messages on social networks, as well as their participation in events supporting the President of the Republic for the current Mandate Revocation process.

In the communiqué, the Institute stated that the Commission considered that preventive protection was appropriate, considering that, from a preliminary view, “there is a presence of dissemination and promotion of the process of revocation of mandate by public servants, in contravention of the principles of impartiality and neutrality to which they are compulsory, this derives from their active participation in events held in the states of Sonora, Veracruz and Coahuila, on April 2, 2022, which is why it ordered them to refrain from carrying out dissemination acts and information related to such exercise or with the purpose of disseminating government achievements of the Holder of Power Federal Executive”, he stressed.
