Saul Alvarez will face his next fight on May 7, 2022 against Russian Dmitry Bivol. The challenge involves getting out of the 168 pound category, which he defended with authority throughout 2021. Although he has already started a title fight in the light heavyweight division, the best pound-for-pound in the world will have to increase his weight to get closer to his rival's conditions at 175 pounds. For this, he has dedicated a significant part of his training to diet and hours in the gym.

During an interview for ESPN, Eddy Reynoso's ward gave details about his preparation. Among the first statements, he highlighted having submitted to a diet composed, for the most part, of vegan food. He even confessed to being used to it, because it is not a habit he has acquired to gain 175 pounds.

“The truth is that I'm not too complicated for food. I adapt a lot, I adapt quickly and it's not something that I grabbed him from one like that and that I left everything I ate before a jerk, no. All week I try to eat what is vegan and if one day it shows up eating something else, meat, chicken, whatever, like. I don't have any problems, but I do try to keep myself eating vegan all week,” he said.

Discipline has been a constant in Canelo Álvarez's career, so he has the ideal physical condition to tolerate strict food and training programs. In this regard, he considered that with the diet, his body has adapted very well. “I feel strong, my stomach is very good, I highly recommend it”, he added.
