Floyd Mayweather will return to a ring this year to show that at 45 he is still in force. As he has been doing in his last presentations, it will be through an exhibition fight, that is to say that he will not count for his professional record that he closed with a relentless 50-0. The former world champion will ride the helipad of the Burj Al Arab Hotel on May 14 for what promises to be a historic evening.
As revealed by the news portal TMZ Sports, his rival will be Dangerous Don Moore, 42, who knew how to serve as a sparring for Money on several occasions, so they both know each other very well. The former boxer has a record of 18 victories, 12 of them by knockout, and only one defeat and has not worn his gloves since 2016.
The fight will be eight rounds and will close an event that will be called “The Global Titans Fight Series”. Also participating in the evening will be former MMA fighter Anderson Silva, former world boxing champion Badou Jack and several legends of boxing and mixed martial arts that will be known between now and May 14.
The location will be none other than the heliport of the Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai's iconic building, more than 300 meters above the ground. There, some years ago, tennis legends Roger Federer and Andre Agassi played a friendly match. Undoubtedly, the frame will be unique for a boxer who has made history.
Mayweather retired from professional boxing with a 50-0 record and world titles in four different categories, an unprecedented record. His last official match was against UFC star Conor McGregor in 2018, when he returned from retirement for that duel. Since then, he has had two exhibition performances, the first against kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in December 2019 and the last one last June, against youtuber Logan Paul.
