Actor and producer Eugenio Derbez once again launched himself against the construction of the Maya Train, one of the flagship projects of the administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), after he was harshly criticized for participating in the “Sélvame del Tren” campaign.
Through his Instagram account, the actor shared a new video in which, over 14 minutes, he shows the consequences that the construction of the Maya Train has brought. In the audio visual, journalist Florencia González explains the intentions of López Obrador's megaproject, as well as the consequences that its construction has generated and the ecosystems that could be affected by the modification of Section 5 South.
Accompanied by the video, Derbez wrote: “The obligation to protect the life of Mexico's flora and fauna belongs to all of us. We must ALL open our eyes to the obvious. A smart decision can prevent the damage from spreading further.”
It is worth mentioning that Section 5 South has a length of 60.3 kilometers and was planned to be by an overpass which was being built on federal highway 307 Playa del Carmen-Tulum. But in the hurry to finish the works by the end of 2023, it will now pass at ground level through the jungle area that runs parallel to that federal road.
Due to delays in the construction of several sections of the Maya Train, last January the head of the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur) was relieved. Rogelio Jiménez Pons stopped leading the Maya Train Project and the direction of Fonatur to be replaced by Javier May, who until then served as head of the Welfare Secretariat.
With the arrival of May, construction work has accelerated the pace to complete the work in a timely manner, and although many communities of Mayan indigenous peoples have opposed the Train and have even obtained amparos, the work continues.
On the other hand, the interpreter of Ludovico P.Luche shared another worse video now on his Twitter account, in which he denied that his ban on Televisa was given for granting an interview to TV Azteca.
“I've been giving interviews to TV Azteca for years and years and I've never been banned for that, so that's not the reason. They also say that I did not clarify because no one asked me; no one has asked me. Everyone assumed that it was because I gave an interview to TV Azteca, which I have given it all my life; no, it wasn't because of that, the reason is not said openly but I think it's more than obvious, think about it,” Derbez said.
Speculations about the reasons for his veto on Televisa came after during a meeting with the media as part of the promotion of the new film by his friend Omar Chaparro and his former son-in-law Mauricio Ochmann.
“Look, there is not the company that vetoed me (points to the microphones with the logos of the reporters' television stations), because with good reason”, he said to be interrupted by a “Which is where you started Eugenio”, so that he would add “Yes, but I'm banned”. As if his confession were not enough, the communicators insisted on knowing more and even mentioned to him if it hurt what he said: “No, oh my God. It doesn't worry me anymore, but it's worth noting that they suddenly send you to silence.”
