The Attorney General's Office assured that since December 2021 it had warned of non-compliance with the rules in the election process of the comptroller of Bogotá

Since December last year, the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation had warned of non-compliance with the rules governing the election process of the comptroller of Bogotá, and the Council had been asked to take appropriate measures to ensure that the standard was met to the letter.

Specifically, the Public Prosecutor's Office issued a wake-up call because the district comptroller's period was not being fully complied with. According to the Office of the Attorney General, the dates of commencement and termination of the office did not coincide with the provisions in force.

As requested by the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Bogotá Council was required to ensure that the district comptroller would exercise his function for a period of four years beginning on January 1 and ending on December 31.

Recently, the Bogotá Council made the changes that were relevant and through Agreement 837 of March 29, 2022, issued by this Corporation, the period of the district controller was modified, so that it is applied in accordance with current regulations.

The Office of the Attorney General stated that “this preventive action does not imply co-administration, prejudice or interference in administrative, technical, legal or other decisions for entities or individuals who exercise public functions or administer public resources”.

The results of the first test to occupy the position of comptroller in Bogotá

Last Friday, April 1, the results of the first test that was done to the candidates for this position were announced. It should be recalled that at first 119 candidates were presented; however, only 24 continue with the process after this first stage.

During this election process, five tests of knowledge, experience, academic training and production of works in the tax field will be presented, including the first one carried out by the University of San Buenaventura on March 27.

Among the people who aspire to the position and most stood out in this knowledge test are Julián Mauricio Ruiz, who is the current Deputy Comptroller General of the Republic and scored 96 points; Sandra Patricia Bohórquez, who scored 93 points and is currently the administrative and financial manager of the Comptroller General's Office; and in the third place with 87 points is Luis Fernando Bueno, former comptroller of Barrancabermeja and who recently aspired to the same position in Cucuta.

It should be recalled that while the selection process of the new comptroller of Bogotá is underway, on March 1 José Enrique García Suárez was appointed to the post, in the form of commission. Once the person who will occupy the head of the District Comptroller's Office is elected, Garcia will leave the post.
