New York is the city in the world where the most billionaires live. In total, 107 tycoons reside in the Big Apple, the fortune of all these people combined is greater than 640 billion dollars. And behind the American city is Beijing, the Chinese capital, where the billionaires of the Asian giant have their luxurious and extravagant homes.
One city that fell into the ranks made by Forbes magazine is Moscow. In the last list he was in fourth place and now dropped several ranks. According to the publication, it could fall even further after the sanctions of the US and other countries of the West against Russia due to the invasion of Ukraine. The fortune of billionaires living in the Russian capital is 214.9 billion dollars. Last year the figure for Russian oligarchs was around $420.6 billion.

Compared to the list for the year, eight new billionaires moved to New York City. In total, 107 tycoons live in the Big Apple. Most have their business in the financial industry. Among the newcomers to the city are blockchain entrepreneurs Devin Finzer and Alex Atallah, who are co-founders of OpenSea. And the person with the greatest fortune is still the former mayor of New York and middle businessmen Michael Bloomberg.
Beijing: 83 billionaires
Total net worth of fortunes: $310 billion
Your resident with the most money: Zhang Yiming, $50 billion
The Chinese regime's increased regulations caused the fortunes of the tycoons to fall in Beijing. Billionaires are estimated to have lost close to $174.3 billion in 2021. In total, 17 people in the Chinese capital are no longer considered super-rich, among them are Kate Wang, founder of Chinese vaping giant RLX Technology, and Will Wei Cheng, CEO of ride-sharing company Didi Global. Hong Kong is another city affected by Chinese regulations. The former British colony lost more than 12 billionaires due to strict market controls and COVID-19 protocols, Forbes reported. Due to the pandemic, casino magante Ina Chan and Lawrence Ho, along with hotelier Zhao Tongtong came off the list.
London: 66 billionaires
Total net worth of fortunes: $324.1 billion
Your resident with the most money: Len Blavatnik, $32.5 billion
Relaxing the restrictions imposed by the pandemic allowed the town to rise to fourth place in the ranking. London, had a net profit of three new billionaires, although it actually welcomed six new members of the club of the wealthiest, including the first Bulgarian and Estonian citizens appointed billionaires by Forbe, all with principal residence in the British capital.
Vlad Yatsenko, chief technology officer of digital banking giant Revolut, and Denis Sverdlow, who founded British electronic vehicle manufacturer Arrival, are other new billionaires living in London.
Shanghai: 61 billionaires
Total net worth of fortunes: $187 billion
Your resident with the most money: Liu Yongxing, $13.2 billion
Like other Chinese cities, Shanghai recorded a decline in its number of super-rich residents. Although the region went from 64 to 61 billionaires, it lost less than other Chinese cities.
Shanghai's richest person, Liu Yongxing, president of agriculture and chemicals firm East Hope Group, more than doubled his fortune to an estimated $13.2 billion. In contrast, Xu Yi and Chen Rui, executives of Chinese media giant Bilibili, and Tony Zhao, CEO of Nasdaq-listed online communication and video platform Agora, are among the Shanghai-based billionaires who migrated last year.
Shenzhen: 59 billionaires
Total net value of fortunes: $286.6 billion
Your resident with the most money: Ma Huateng, $37.2 billion
Known as the “Silicon Valley of China”, it is a hub for self-made billionaires. The city fell to sixth place in the top ten after losing nine wealthy residents during 2021. Among those who left Shenzhen are three investors in vaping company Smoore International, whose share plummeted 64% when the Chinese regime threatened to crack down on e-cigarettes.
The wealthiest person in Shenzhen, Ma Huateng, was also affected. The fortune of the president and CEO of Tencent, leader of Internet media, has dropped by more than $28 billion since 2021.
Moscow: 53 billionaires
Total net worth of fortunes: $214.9 billion
Your resident with the most money: Vladimir Lisin, $18.4 billion
The Russian capital lost more billionaires than any other city on the list amid the consequences of the Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine. Twenty-six billionaires' fortunes fell over the past year, including those of Oleg Tinkov, the founder of digital bank Tinkoff; sanctioned billionaires Andrei Molchanov and Dmitry Pumpyanskiy; and Arkady Volozh, the founder of Yandex, the Russian equivalent of search engines such as Google and Yahoo.
Vladimir Lisin, president of steel products manufacturer NLMK Group and the richest person in Moscow, got rid of about $8 billion of his personal wealth.
Bombay: 51 billionaires
Total net worth of fortunes: $301.3 billion
Your resident with the most money: Mukesh Ambani, $90.7 billion
Although the Indian city lost three billionaires, it managed to stay in eighth place in the ranking with a gain of six new rich. Among the wealthy in Bombay are: Falguni Nayar, who became the richest self-made woman in India, with an estimated net worth of $4.5 billion, after going public with her beauty and fashion retailer Nykaa in November 2021. The city's richest resident, the president of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani, alone accounts for more than 30% of the collective net worth of Bombay's billionaires.
San Francisco: 44 billionaires
Total net worth: $160.8 billion
Its residents with the most money: Brian Chesky and Dustin Moskovitz, $11.5 billion
The city on the west coast of the United States is home to four fewer billionaires than last year. However, San Francisco welcomed a strong group of ultra-wealthy entrepreneurs, such as Grammarly co-founder Max Lytvyn; and Henrique Dubugras and Pedro Franceschi, 26- and 25-year-old co-founders (respectively) of fintech startup Brex. But the falling fortunes of other wealthy people, such as Affirm co-founder Max Levchin; RingCentral, Vlad Shmunis and Skillz CEO Andrew Paradise, all excluded from the Forbes list, left the city with a negative balance.
Seoul: 38 billionaires
Total net worth: $108.3 billion
Richest residents: Kim Beom-su and Jay Y. Lee, $9.1 billion
The South Korean capital re-entered the list, for the first time since 2019, thanks to three self-made billionaire newcomers from Seoul: COVID-19 testing entrepreneur Cho Young-sik, fintech founder Lee Seung-Gun and gaming mogul Park Kwan-ho. Tied for the city's richest residents are Kim Beom-su, the founder of Kako, South Korea's largest messaging app, and Jay Y. Lee, the vice president of Samsung Electronics, who are worth an estimated 9.1 billion each.
