Defense Minister Diego Molano said: “He fell alias' Cúcuta ', the last leader of the organized criminal group 'Los Pelusos'. He had been committing crimes and threatening the peace of Colombians for 10 years. #ConTodasNuestrasFuerzas we protect Colombians from these #SímbolosDelMal.”

The operation was carried out in the capital of Norte de Santander, thanks to the joint work of the authorities with the National Police, this heavy blow constitutes an ultimatum for 'Los Pelusos', as Cucuta was its last leader, Molano said: “In the last hours in the city of Cúcuta on the border with Venezuela, within the framework of the military and police campaign Sparta, our National Police captured alias' Cúcuta 'this subject is the main responsible for the criminal group 'Los Pelusos', he was its last leader, who presented an arrest warrant for the crimes of concert to commit an aggravated crime for the purposes of extortion, homicide and drug trafficking”.

Likewise, the act of this criminal was carried out through intimidating pamphlets against citizens, in addition to besieging different populations as a result of the fighting he registered against ELN, generating displacement in various regions of the department of Norte de Santander, in search of control of drug trafficking routes and the sowing of illicit crops, the head of the Defense portfolio, said: “alias' Cúcuta 'has been committing crimes for more than 10 years, is responsible for threats to citizens with pamphlets, participated in armed confrontations against the ELN, and is responsible for a large number of forced displacement in the Catatumbo region in North Santander, this leader had strong alliances with drug traffickers, agreeing to exchange cocaine for weapons, which would also be used, for territorial control and to plant coca crops in this region of the country.”

Meanwhile, alias' Cúcuta 'is accused of escalating crime against the demobilized and ex-combatants of the extinct FARC, in turn, of generating paranoia among the population of the city of Cucuta, by imposing messages allusive to the People's Liberation Army (EPL), considering that 'Los Pelusos' are part of the fragmentations of said guerrilla, Diego Molano, detailed the offender's actions: “Among the criminal acts committed by alias' Cucuta 'is the murder of Giovanni Claro, a former FARC combatant who was in the process of being reinstated on January 11, 2021, in the same way, last February 7 in 2022 in the Las neighborhood Colinas in the city of Cucuta, ordered the painting of 20 houses with graffiti alluding to the self-described group EPL”.

Diego Molano insisted that the tireless work of the authorities and the National Government seeks to continue doing this type of blows in order to reduce the impact of criminal groups, which are present in the country, as stable tranquility is sought in several areas that have been affected by violence, the minister pointed out: “Colombians know that we continue with all our might to protect Colombians from their enemies, and this leader is one of the most important blows to reduce to its minimum expression this group of 'Los Pelusos', which has so much affected the tranquility of this region of Colombia.”
