This Tuesday, April 5, Deportivo Cali and Boca Juniors will debut on date 1 of group E of the 2022 Conmebol Libertadores Cup.

The expectation to save a bad start to the season for the Vallecaucano team is set on their home debut for the continental championship against rivals such as Boca Juniors, Corinthians and Always Ready.

The current champion of the first division of Colombia could not beat Deportes Tolima in the two finals of the 2022 BetPlay Super League and after 14 matches played, penultimate in the standings with 12 points, and goal difference of -7, beating only the twentieth in the table, the also champion but in the second division: Magdalena Union.

The coach of the green-and-white team, Rafael Dudamel, is aware that his roster of champions in the second half of 2021 was highly disarmed and that the club is the second to score the least goals this year (only 10 in favor), while they have made him own door 17 times in a balance sheet of three victories, three draws and three defeats.

For this reason, the fans of South American football expect an even match against Boca Juniors, who last season won the Copa Argentina by Sebastián Battaglia, but who could not show regularity in the league or the Libertadores with the participation of Colombians Frank Fabra, Jorman Campuzano, Sebastian Villa and former player Xeneize, Edwin Cardona.

Based on the regular performances of Colombians and Argentines on the ESPN F12 Argentina program, journalist Mariano Closs talked with Faryd Mondragón, former Deportivo Cali player and sports commentator, about which club is in the best shape to the Libertadores match given that there is a short Cali payroll to debut in the Conmebol tournament.

Mondragón believes that the current Cali campaign has the Verdiblanco fan dismayed, but that doubts about the continuity of the Venezuelan coach arise from the economic crisis that the sports association is going through:

Faryd also believes that the match does not have a favorite club and that his former team has lowered the level too much to be a candidate to debut with victory but he can take advantage of the sensitive losses of Boca Juniors, considering that there are injured players and there are others suspended after the security incidents caused on July 20, 2021 when the Argentine team will be eliminated in the round of 16 in the definition for penalties before Atletico Mineiro:

At the moment, this is how the schedule of matches for the sugar team is scheduled for the remainder of April for the BetPlay I League 2022 and the 2022 Copa Conmebol Libertadores:

Tuesday, April 5, vs. Boca Juniors (date 1 Copa Libertadores - home)

Saturday, April 9, vs. Junior de Barranquilla (date 15 BetPlay League - home)

Wednesday, April 13, vs. Corinthians (date 2 Copa Libertadores - away)

Sunday, April 17, vs. America de Cali (date 16 BetPlay League away)

Sunday, April 24, vs. Rionegro Águilas (date 17 BetPlay League - local)

Thursday, April 28, vs. Always Ready (date 3 Copa Libertadores - away)
