Adalina Davalos, former first lady of the state of Nuevo Leon, revealed that Jaime Rodríguez El Bronco has lost weight during his time in the Apodaca prison. He explained that this situation is due to the type of food he receives in the prison, which was recommended by the doctors who treat him in order to improve his diet and avoid stomach upset.
Davalos added that the former governor is taking a new drug since this weekend he relapsed due to complications with the antibiotic that was previously prescribed. In addition, he assured that despite the ailments that afflict him, he is not alarmed and has not expressed any intention of requesting his transfer to a hospital for specialized care.
Lawyers and health specialists previously reported that the former politician has gastrointestinal problems related to the presence of diverticula, which are sacs formed in the colon or large intestine that can cause severe abdominal pain, fever, nausea and a marked change in bowel habits. They also mentioned that he suffers from high blood pressure.
The former Secretary of Health of Nuevo León, Manuel de la O Cavazos, had already given more details about the situation in El Bronco. After visiting him on April 2, he explained that the former governor is at risk of developing appendicitis and severe colon problems, which could put his life at risk.
During the visit to El Bronco, during which his wife was accompanied by his daughters Zoraida and Valentina, as well as his brother-in-law, the former presidential candidate was in good spirits and enjoyed family life, after being held incommunicado over the weekend as his relatives only hear from him from Monday to Friday. It is worth mentioning that in recent days his supporters went to the prison to show him support and pray for him.
On the other hand, in addition to being questioned about the current situation of her spouse, Adalina received questions regarding her current legal status after she was denied the protection she requested to avoid any arrest warrant against him. However, he refused to talk about it and expressed his preference to leave everything to the lawyers who currently run his legal advocate.
The amparo was requested after the authorities conducted a search on the properties of Jaime Rodríguez on March 20, in which the Attorney General's Office seized 2 million 100 thousand pesos in cash, two safes, a 30x30 rifle and a 357 magnum revolver. The controversial politician was arrested on March 15, accused of diverting resources for the collection of signatures in his presidential campaign, four years after the then senator and current governor of Nuevo Leon, Samuel García Sepúlveda filed a complaint against him in 2018.
Rodríguez was governor of Nuevo León from 2015 to 2021 and previously participated as an independent candidate for the presidency of Mexico in the last electoral process where Andrés Manuel López Obrador was elected. The next hearing in the criminal proceedings, in which he is immersed in the case of the “bronchosignatures”, is scheduled for April 11, when it will be determined whether a complaint is appropriate for the use of resources of illicit origin to get to run for presidential candidate.
