In the first leg the French team won 1-0 with a goal from Kylian Mbappé and on the second leg the Spanish team won 3-1 with a treble by Karim Benzema and the only goal of the Parisian team was Mbappé.

Chelsea reached the Champions League quarter-finals after two round-trip wins against France's Lille. The first was with goals from Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic (2-0) and the last 2-1 with goals from Pulisic and Azpilcueta.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti lined up with Thibaut Courtois, David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, Ferland Mendy, Eder Militao, Luka MoDric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Federico Valverde, Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior.
