This week, the release date and the first images of the second season, which will have ten episodes, were announced. Created by Annie Weisman, the story focuses “on the idyllic, yet fragile, beach paradise of sunny San Diego in the 1980s. Physical is a half-hour black comedy that follows Sheila Rubin, a seemingly obedient and quietly tortured housewife who supports the candidacy of her intelligent and controversial husband for the state assembly. But, behind closed doors, Sheila has her own darkly fun way of living that she rarely lets the world see. She is also fighting a complex set of personal demons related to her own image... That is, until he finds liberation through the most unlikely source: the world of aerobics.”
The series portrays the protagonist's journey from a suffocating and imprisoning life to the discovery of her emotional and economic liberation. Stronger and more confident, Sheila becomes the entrepreneur of a revolutionary videotape business, mixing her great passion for exercises with the technology of that time and an infallible idea to make money. “Sheila becomes someone we take for granted today (but who was completely radical at the time): the female lifestyle guru,” the description adds.
