Although singer-songwriter Natalia Lafourcade recently appeared in a media video where she was shown alongside other characters linked to the world of art and entertainment against the work of the Mayan Train as part of the #SélvameDelTren campaign, now her father, Gastón Lafourcade, expressed his full support for the megaprojects undertaken by the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Through a video released by Morena Querétaro, the Chilean musician and educator based in Mexico launched himself against the characters who were against the Fourth Transformation, specifically with the construction of section 5 of the Mayan Train, who argued the alleged destruction of forests and jungles in the locality.

The father of the famous singer and songwriter of Hasta la Raíz stressed that the allegations against this project are slander and that, instead of bringing backwards to the country and the state, it will be something beneficial.

“One day after the inauguration of Felipe Ángeles Airport, they launch themselves with a suspicious, very suspicious concern for the environment,” said the musician in the video where he supports AMLO's projects and stands out from what celebrities, including his daughter, said.

In the recording that circulates on social networks, the artist is seen performing a piece on the piano and then broadcasting the positioning that has already gone viral: “At a time when there is a terrible misinformation about what is happening in our beautiful Mexico, I am forced to explain some things. In response to the comments of a group of people related to the media and television, who have used themselves as experts in ecology and environmentalism, and whose claims denote absolute ignorance,” he said without mentioning names.

The harpsichord player and harpsichord craftsman, exiled to Mexico in his youth after the military coup against socialist Salvador Allende, even questioned the celebrities who appear in the video “where they were when an airport was being built on Lake Texcoco or when the Rivera Maya was destroyed”.

Gastón, who fought against Augusto Pinochet in his native country, stressed that what was said in the clip of “Sélvame del tren” is nothing more than “slander on the extraordinary works” that have been built so far this six-year term. He also applauded actions of Q4, such as the construction of the interoceanic corridor and the provision of pensions to older adults.

“That's why I want to raise my voice as a musician, educator and protest the large number of lies and attacks on a president who is the cause of my deep admiration, for his great knowledge of Mexico and his honesty in all proof,” added Gastón Lafourcade.

Finally, the musician explained that this is the first time he feels represented by a president: “that his goal is the aggrandizement of Mexico and its governorates, without distinction of gender and origin.” At the end of the video, Lafourcade mentioned that, like many, “it is a pride to be with López Obrador”.

Based in Querétaro since 1987, the musician shared that although in Mexico the administration of eight leaders has lived closely, with AMLO he feels represented and sees in him a president with the fundamental goal of the aggrandizement of Mexico.

After the musician's comments, the name of his famous daughter has gone viral on social networks, because although he did not mention it in his positioning, the difference of opinions between father and daughter jumped among the public.

What did Natalia Lafourcade say in the aforementioned video?

In the campaign, where figures such as Eugenio Derbez, Bárbara Mori, Rubén Albarrán, Kate del Castillo, Omar Chaparro and Saúl Hernández, among others, also participate, the multiple Latin Grammy winner is heard saying:

“Hundreds, thousands of trees have already been cut down, and there could be millions more... We are taking away their homes from thousands of native species, we are taking away our own house... We do need our jungles, we do need rivers, our cenotes, water, life”.
