The Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) reported that in their fight and prosecution against organized crime, its agents managed to intervene in various drug laboratories located in the north of the country.
Through a statement, they explained that on April 4 of this year, military elements secured three clandestine laboratories for the manufacture of synthetic drugs in the state of Durango.
This was derived from planning and intelligence work to detect criminal organizations with a presence in that entity, in addition to finding the basis for their research in the interpretation of satellite images.
In this context, military personnel launched the Intensive Eradication Program 2022 and deployed reaction forces in the municipality of Tamazula, Durango, where they were able to locate a total of three so-called drug laboratories through ground surveys.
In the area of the findings, agents of the Mexican Army installed the respective security perimeter and proceeded to its disqualification. Once the clandestine laboratories had been operated, Sedena managed to secure the following substances:
8,670 litres of unknown chemicals, 105 kilograms of caustic soda, 30 kilograms of sodium carbonate and 19 kilograms of granulated trichloro.
In addition, they recovered tools used to treat, materialize and store the above, such as 10 reactors for organic synthesis, 5 industrial burners, 4 centrifugal dryers, condensers with capacity for 600 and 800 liters, a metal container.
According to the authorities, all insured materials were made available to the competent authorities.
By carrying out all these assurances in strict compliance with the rule of law, Sedena reported that they will prevent this type of substance from being used for the manufacture of synthetic drugs that affect the health and integral development of Mexican youth.
“With these actions, the Mexican Army reaffirms its commitment to ensure and safeguard the well-being of citizens, contributing with the Government of Mexico to guarantee the peace and security of Mexicans,” the national authorities concluded.
Recently, the Sedena authorities reported another important location, a total of 6 clandestine drug laboratories in the municipality of Culiacán, in Sinaloa and in Buenavista Tomatlán, Michoacán.
The largest insurances occurred in Sinaloa, where 3,820 liters of liquid substances and 1,818 kilograms of unknown chemicals were found. On the other hand, 150 liters and 20 kilograms of unidentified chemical and liquid substances were seized in Michoacán.
During the operation in Culiacán, 325 kilograms of caustic soda, 133 kilograms of a methamphetamine-like component and 3 kilograms of a methamphetamine-like component were also found.
On the other hand, in Buenavista Tomatlán, other items or tools were found such as 12 containers with different chemicals, equipment for processing the components, and even a total of 3 motorcycles and a car.
This leaves as a result, according to the Secretariat of National Defense, these three states at the top of the most dismantled drug laboratories. In the territories of Sinaloa and Michoacán, 54 and 19 units have been secured respectively, followed by Durango with 13.
In these clandestine sites, authorities reported, mainly drugs such as heroin and methamphetamines are produced, whose insurance has grown by 128% in the last three years.
