March against Pedro Castillo: Robberies, destruction and looting in the Supreme Court, the Public Prosecutor's Office and the National Elections Jury

Vandals who have infiltrated in the middle of the march against Pedro Castillo in downtown Lima have caused damage to various public institutions and attacked patrolmen, as well as some journalists covering the demonstration.

The mobilization began in various parts of the city, one of them being the Plaza San Martín in downtown Lima. The protesters headed towards the Congress of the Republic, where the National Police placed a human barrier to prevent possible unrest.

During the march, part of the demonstrators also tried to reach the Government Palace, an access blocked by the police, which caused the first moments of tension between the two sides that led to the launching of tear gas bombs by the agents.

In the face of this, the protesters, in the same style as barras bravas, responded by throwing stones at members of the National Police, which has left several injured. At the same time, a journalist was attacked with a stone that fell on her arm.

Because the police had implemented a fence at the intersection of Abancay Avenue with Nicolás de Piérola, the vandals surrounded the building of the Superior Court in Lima and managed to open one of the gates in the back thanks to the use of stones and sticks with which they picked the lock, according to RPP.

A few minutes later, several of them were observed taking out office chairs and other objects, after which the National Police threw tear gas at them to disperse them.

In the same way, these subjects threw stones at the headquarters of the National Elections Jury (JNE), where they tried in vain to open the doors of that institution located in the Jirón Lampa.

The overruns also reached the screens at the access to one of the stations of El Metropolitano, as well as patrolmen of the National Police stationed on Abancay Avenue.

In all cases, the police dispersed the vandals with tear gas and with the participation of the Mounted Police, which made it possible to regain control of these points within a few minutes.

It is necessary to point out that most of the demonstrators have been peaceful, while the vandals - who always had stones and sticks - were aggressive.
