The repercussions of the elimination of the Colombia team from the Qatar 2022 World Cup continue, despite the last two victories against Venezuela and Bolivia respectively. For now, the Colombian Football Federation has not commented on the situation of Reinaldo Rueda.

The Vallecaucano made it clear that his future in the Tricolor clearly depended on achieving the qualification for the World Cup event, which he did not achieve as happened for Germany 2006.

There are several names that sound to replace Reinaldo Rueda, who would already have plans to lead in Colombian football, where he sounds to take the reins of Atlético Nacional.

Firstly, from Argentina they point out that the favorite of the federation's directors is Marcelo Bielsa, who previously led the Albiceleste, which he led to the 2002 World Cup in Korea & Japan, as well as the Chilean team, to which he qualified for South Africa 2010.

For now, the future of the Colombian national team is a complete unknown and criticism of Reinaldo Rueda rains him from all sectors of the public arena for his failure.

During an interview with the TyC Sports channel in Argentina, Faryd Mondragón, a former archer who for several years defended the Colombian goal, spoke openly about the process of Reinaldo Rueda at the helm of the national team.

For the former player and now football commentator, it is difficult to understand how Colombia stayed outside Qatar 2022 because of the quality of players it has.

He also stated that he never agreed with the departure of Portuguese Carlos Queiroz from the national team after the falls at home to Uruguay 3-0 and the win suffered in Quito 6-1 against Ecuador.

Faryd Mondragón was international with Colombia on 55 occasions, played three world cups (USA 1994, France 1998 and Brazil 2014) and was part of five knockout rounds.

For Brazil 2014 he played the final minutes of the game in which Colombia defeated Japan 4-1 by group stage, making him the longest-lived player to play in a world cup match at the age of 43. However, in Russia 2018, the Egyptian Essam El Hadary removed that record from him at the age of 45.
