“I'm an influencer”: Estiwar G spoke to Infobae about MasterChef Celebrity, food and life on the streets

The digital content generator and participant of Colombia's most famous cuisine, shared a fun talk in which he highlighted the importance of authenticity and faith

Known for the 'Toxitour', his particular vocabulary and attitude, and for being one of the generators of digital content that supports 'the band' of entrepreneurs who struggle daily for a livelihood. Estiwar G is one of the public figures who have recently stood out on social networks and national show business.

Infobae: A creator of gastronomic content with a clear social vocation that tries to make the 'neighborhood' visible. How is Estiwar defined?

Estiwar G: I am a partner I am an 'influencer', an influencer, even that way I appear in the 'clacketas' of 'MasterChe' because influencer doesn't plot me, and I don't think only because I wouldn't be so 'makia', girls don't plot (laughs). But I'm a content generator for people with limited resources, that's the idea.

Infobae: How did the idea of toxitour originate, did you already have something similar to that particular route in mind?

Estiwar G: I organized the toxitour spontaneously in Santafe, without thinking about it I did the tour where I was invited to eat pizza empanadas at a thousand pesos, a partner recommended me, I had more or less five thousand followers back then, and the partner told me 'little guy since you like toxic food I came to Santafe and try these empanadas, I arrived at the location but there were no people, those empanadas were very good and sold early. So I decided to take a tour of all the chuzos where empanadas were sold in Santafe and do that a risk but I have always had a premise that the most 'hottest' empanadas are in the hottest neighborhoods, so the toxitour was born spontaneously.

Infobae: The toxitour has demonstrated many realities of people trying to survive in the rebusque, do you think that the help your digital content has provided on the networks for these entrepreneurs has been real?

Estiwar G: In a way I realized that doing this (toxitour) helped people, because the chuzos I showed after two three weeks came back and people told me 'Estiwar, that I chimba that video because the one about people has come to me', there I realized that street vendors were really being helped, so I decided to continue doing the toxitour because it is shocking and to generate help to street vendors. More than one told me 'Estiwar I had to close my warehouse and start selling empanadas' and I said we are going to show this difficult situation, then toxitour in food stores, the center many sides, and I realized that I was pulling people to the places I was showing, that seemed very valuable to me.

Infobae: What was that move from social media to television like and what did you think influenced that transition to pass?

Estiwar G: We have such an impact on society and people with limited resources that 'prrr' watered the voice... I say one thing (laughs) for every gomelo we are seven years old, that is the reality of Colombia, we live in difficult conditions, there are scarce resources there is no money, so for every privileged seven people have a bad time and I I represent those who are having a hard time, I tell them I parcho, I live what you live and I show what you see and that became massive, it got to the point that RCN wrote to me. And me! Very partner! they are calling me from RCN, they will be the ones from prison to extort me (laughs) and then short hand, white.

Infobae: How did you feel about Colombia's most famous cuisine, did you have previous experience with the gourmet world?

Estiwar G: My kitchen is the cuisine of the Colombian daily, I arrive at 'Masterche' knowing how to make rice, beans, my greaves. But I don't have the knowledge of haute cuisine, 'Masterche' is precisely a haute cuisine program. Mine is the kitchen of the 'taita', the real kitchen. Haute cuisine accessed by 4 or 5% of the population, the rest what? for real cuisine. And I applied it and thank God it went well, they didn't kick me out of the first partner (laughs) the band, the family told me 'little hand I didn't let him kick out first' and we crowned.

Infobae: What message would it give to people who have been called once in their lives as' ñeros' in a derogatory way.

Estiwar G: I come from a dark world, there were no expectations or longings or future. I want to tell you no matter how low you got, how many mistakes were made, no matter how badly you had, always open up options for improvement. I was very young at the right time I had no future, I was waiting for the cemetery, the hospital or the prison. And today I'm representing the partners on a cooking show. I was a person without expectations but look where I am. One day I threw my heads down, leaned on God, believe or not believe having faith in something helps one generate will, generate energy, hope. You may be struggling with depression, drug addiction, rejection but tomorrow the sun comes up again and you will have a chance.

Infobae: What would you advise newbies who are starting out in the world of digital content and social media.

Estiwar G: This is our moment, I am ugly, but a gentleman, this is the time for the weirdos to express our rarity, social networks are rewarding the different, we are already bored of the supermodel, we are already bored with extreme makeup and false posture and masks, it is time to show ourselves how we are real. We marginals are triumphing because we are showing our reality. Little hands are real, there is always an opportunity to improve, make them feel like it, be original highlight the difference, I invite all partners to be different, go against the tide. Look for your motives, fight for your dreams.
