The vice-presidential candidate for the Historical Pact, Francia Márquez, recently denounced a third threat against her in less than a month. The latter came from the self-described Black Eagles and was known due to a pamphlet in which it is identified as a military objective, as well as the candidate for the presidency, Gustavo Petro.
“We have been warning him and the time has come for Colombia as a whole to realize that the Chavista drug guerrilla is about to come to power at the head of alias el cacas and with whom we have said he is an ELN militant, the black hijueputa of Francia Márquez,” says the poster of the Black Eagles of the Capital Block that he shared on his networks social the environmental leader.
Marquez said at a press conference in Bello, Antioquia, that he informed the Attorney General's Office of the first two threats, but he has not received a response from the entity that indicates the initiation of an investigation. “We reported the two previous threats to the Prosecutor's Office, I still don't even get a call from someone from the Prosecutor's Office saying 'we're worried about this',” said Petro's vice-presidential formula.
Faced with the situation, Francia Márquez requested an appointment with the Attorney General of the Nation, Francisco Barbosa, from which he has not yet received a response. “We asked, as a result of the situation, an appointment from the Attorney General of the Nation and so far he has not given us an answer,” confirmed the leader. In turn, he demanded that President Iván Duque be guaranteed all security measures so that he can continue his political campaign.
The candidate even stated earlier that she has already had problems with her security scheme. “I hope that the Attorney General's Office will be able to investigate these facts. Hopefully this time impunity won't win,” he wrote on his Twitter account.
For his part, the director of the National Protection Unit (UNP), Alfonso Campo Martínez, assured that the candidate's safety is guaranteed. “It has a robust protection scheme, for the whole country, by UNP Colombia. She and all the candidates for the Presidency and Vice-Presidency of the Republic receive protection from this government that defends democracy,” said the official.
It should be recalled that the candidates elected were also threatened in the pamphlet: Alirio Uribe, Gloria Flórez, Ariel Ávila and Jahel Quiroga; current congressmen María José Pizarro, Iván Cepeda, Gustavo Bolivar, Victoria Sandino, Carlos Antonio Lozada; and other personalities such as Rodrigo Londoño (Timochenko), Hollman Morris, members of the First Lines, among others.
France Márquez campaign in Antioquia
It is noteworthy that Francia Márquez has been in Medellín since last Monday, which will host her campaign for the vice-presidency at the request of Gustavo Petro. “They tell me that I am a political phenomenon thanks to Antioquia and that invites me to come and campaign here,” the environmental leader said at the press conference. Although he clarified that he will not live in the capital of Antioquia, he will do much of his political campaign in the territory.
Polls show that the region has historically been conservative and could give its support to Federico Gutiérrez, the Team's candidate for Colombia, who is so far the strongest rival of the Historical Pact proposal.
