Diego Bazán, parliamentarian of Avanza Pais, did not hesitate to reproach the attitude of some parliamentarians when defining the votes in favor of the vacancy of Pedro Castillo. The legislator regretted that the president did not leave twice.
Given this, Bazán announced that he will propose the amendment of the rules of procedure of the Congress in order to reduce the number of votes necessary for a possible vacancy of the President of the Republic to take place. Along these lines, he indicated that his proposal will envisage dropping from 87 to 78 votes with the aim of “achieving the goal of removing the head of state from office”.
“It's hard to get the votes for vacancy. It is on my agenda to ask for a reform of the rules of procedure so that the 87 votes are not necessary to get a vacancy, but only 78. This is democratic, I am going to put it to the bench and I hope to have the support of the majority in Parliament,” he told Canal N.
“Definitely, the way is the presidential vacancy. We have not had the votes before, if necessary, the vacancy motion will have to be refiled. I think the easiest way is for the president to resign, but I don't think he's going to do it,” he said.
In addition, Diego Bazán, assured that Pedro Castillo is not stature on governance, since so far the protests, demonstrations and wave of violence that the country is experiencing in the face of the measures of his management cannot be overcome.
“I think the best thing for the country is the renewal of the political class, we cannot continue with a person who can no longer lead the country,” he added.
A few days ago, the congressman also criticized Pedro Castillo's measure on compulsory social immobility. Through a supreme decree, the president surprised many with this decision.
“Very concerned about this dictatorial measure, we give a message of condolences. The permanence of a person like Mr. Castillo cannot be sustained,” he said in an interview with RPP.
Diego Bazán considered that the mechanism that extends the state of emergency “is an abuse of the right” and that “citizens should not be passive in this situation” which he described as “dictatorial”.
“We cannot allow this clearly illegitimate government to set the tone for us at this time for something that is not covered by the Political Constitution,” he said.
When asked what would happen if law enforcement officers prevent them from entering the legislative seat, he replied: “That is not going to happen. It would be the last thing. We have been elected by the people to be congressmen and in this case we are going to defend parliamentary jurisdiction to the end.”
DIEGO BAZÁN ON THE NEW MINISTER OF HEALTH
Upon learning that Hernán Condori was censored, Diego Bazán assured that he hopes that the new Minister of Health will have an adequate profile to take office and above all have the capacity to continue to face the pandemic and other ills that afflict the sector in our country.
“We hope that, as soon as possible, Mr. Castillo will make a decision. I do not doubt that Peru Libre is the governing party, but there must be people who have the technical and professional capacity, as well as experience in public management, but not tainted by investigations that ultimately make their professional careers suspicious,” he said to the press from outside the Congress.
“In that sense, we hope that (the new Minister of Health) will be a doctor, that he has the level, that he has the height and that he enjoys the sympathy of the medical guilds and that he immediately solves the issue of vaccination,” he added.
