Between 2018 and 2022, in Bogotá, the most widely held appearances were held for parking in prohibited places. They accounted for 27.36% of the total number of comparenda held in the city during this period. In fact, the capital of the country in 2021 had a rate of complaints for bad parking for private vehicles of 24.2 per 1000 registered private vehicles.
The imposition of complaints for bad parking last year left figures that indicate: out of every 10 violations for parking in improper places, 5 were given to cars, 3 to motorcycles and 2 to vans or others. According to the Culture of Mobility 2021 survey, 68% of people saw vehicles parked in pedestrian areas every day.
The Ministry of Mobility assured that, according to the 2021 Citizen Culture Survey, a survey of 400 drivers in the city, 41% consider that people never or almost never locate a parking lot before leaving.
For this reason, since last Monday, April 4, the teams from the secretariats of Culture, Recreation, Sport and Mobility will be making a greater presence in different parts of the city, providing relevant information on the problem of poor parking, and its implications for traffic and people's lives.
They will discuss the new “Pago Parking Zones” and will begin the implementation of high-impact “Citizen Culture” actions that will prompt vehicle users to reflect on the importance of parking only in authorized areas.

Although poor parking is one of the most sanctioned actions in Bogotá, the towns of Chapinero, Fontibon and Teusaquillo are the most affected by this behavior, so the mayor's office calls on all vehicle drivers to park in authorized places, to leave the excuses “but it's only 5 minutes” and the “there is still room for them to walk”, in order to occupy the public space.
The Ministry of Mobility ensures that it has 150 transit agents, cranes and immobilization clamps, as well as mobility guides to carry out the strategy. It is one of the priorities of the mayor's office to mitigate the “badly parked”, so it asks citizens to collaborate in reporting where these facts are being presented.
