Francia Márquez, in addition to being in the eye of critics and controversies about what it means to be politicians, is a woman who is full of symbolisms that make her community and people of African descent proud.
For the 40-year-old Caucana has been increasingly attracted to showing everything that represents her roots, even defending the territories from blackness together with other leaders, asking for protection from the State for some years.
The candidate for the vice presidency of Colombia for the Historical Pact, where they pair up with Gustavo Petro as a candidate for the presidency, has made part of her political speeches the words they use within her community, something that has cost her countless criticisms.
For example, when he used the word “majoras”, which brought him harsh comments on social networks and from many of his opposition political colleagues.
However, she herself has come out to explain, through her social network Twitter, what the term meant and since when it is used:
Then, taking a look at the details, her wardrobe is one of the things that most characterize her, given that in every presentation she makes to the media or in the middle of her visits to the territories while she campaigns, she highlights her colors, her hairstyles and the accessories she uses.
Just behind those outfits full of color and full of important meanings, is Esteban Sinisterra Paz, creator of Esteban Africa.
The young designer tells how he came to work with one of the most outstanding and relevant women in Colombian politics today.
“I was very happy because France, before announcing its presidential candidacy, is a benchmark for us, for our community, because it is an example to follow. So that France wrote to me, I was very amazed by that,” Sinisterra told WRadio.
He also told about what Francia Márquez's costumes represent: “In each of her garments it is to narrate the territory, in the prints, in the cheerful colors, that is France”.
However, the colors that Márquez usually uses are not random, because they try to communicate something specific with each color, for example, yellow when it wants to inspire hope, being one of the colors that the candidate likes the most, while red has more to do with the strength it wants to generate in a presentation or speech.
“Colors play a fundamental role. For example, when we want to use force and have it transmit that, red is the ideal,” said Esteban, who is a native of Santa Barbara de Iscuandé, Nariño and is just 23 years old.
Esteban's life has not been easy, as he told in some interviews, as he was one of the many Colombians who had to leave their territories to preserve life and get ahead.
That is perhaps why he feels identified with environmental leader Francia Márquez and could not say no to him when he called him to work with her and on her.
