There are more than 21 thousand people affected by the winter wave in Antioquia, these are the most affected regions

El Dagran reported that, due to the rainy season in the country, five people have died in the department, and more than 1,300 homes have been affected

The director of the Administrative Department for Disaster Risk Management of Antioquia (Dagran), Jaime Enrique Gómez Zapata, informed RCN Radio that, so far in 2022, the heavy rains that have occurred in the department have caused 88 emergencies that have left 61,964 people affected and 21,390 people affected.

As the director of the Dagran told the station, of these emergencies, 39 were mass movements, four sudden increases, 21 floods, 12 gales, six hailstorms, a tree fall and five torrential avenues.

In total, according to Gómez Zapata, because of these events, five people died in the department, while 1,336 homes were affected.

In its last report, the entity also announced that, as of April 4, during the rainy season, 30 municipalities in the department of Antioquia were on red alert due to a high probability of landslides.

According to the Dagran report, the municipalities on alert are: San Roque, Angostura, Donmatias, Yamural, Abriaqui, Anzá, Ebéjico, Alexandria, Concepción, El Carmen de Viboral, El Peñol, Granada, La Ceja, Marinilla, Nariño, Rionegro, San Francisco, San Luis, Sonson, Amagá, Angelópolis, Jerome Montebello, Pueblorrico, Apartado, Barbosa, Bello, Caldas and Girardota.

The entity also asked for special attention in the following road corridors to the possibility of landslides: Uramita - Dabeiba PR 26+00 Peñas Blancas sector; Dabeiba and Mutatá; Via Santuario and Cañoalegre Km 68 and 84; Caldas - Angelópolis; Amagá - Fredonia and Concordia - Betulia.

The Dagran also warned that, by the same date, there were three red alerts in the department due to the likelihood of sudden increases in the tributaries of the department. According to the entity, the alerts are: on the Cauca river, between the municipality of La Pintada and the district of Bolomboló (Venice) Anzá; those direct to the Cauca river between Puerto Valdivia and Nechí, and the direct ones between the Bebaramá and Murrí rivers.

The Administrative Department for Disaster Risk Management of Antioquia (Dagran) also reported that, during the course of this Monday, April 4, due to the winter season, they attended to emergencies of mass movements, torrential avenues, gales and floods, in the municipalities of Uramita, Amagá, Montebello, Puerto Berrío and Anza.

The entity then announced that, on the same day, in the municipality of Amagá, the relief teams attended a mass movement, a sudden rise and a torrential avenue of the Malabrigo stream.

According to the preliminary Dagran census, emergencies recorded in Amagá left “450 families affected and 3,100 affected, as well as 7 homes collapsed and 37 affected.”

On the other hand, the entity reported that, in the case of Montebello, “24 families were affected after landslide and several homes were affected by loss of gale cover”, while, in Puerto Berrío, “flooding was reported due to the overflow of the Magdalena River causing damage to crops and equipment of 21 families.”

The last emergency reported by the Dagran occurred in the municipality of Anzá, where a gale caused six houses to lose their roof, and in another one located on the Quiuna village, it lost one of its walls due to a landslide.
