The third season of “The Witcher” has already started filming

The Witcher is still a long way from over. On April 4, Netflix announced the start of filming the third season with a photograph of Henry Cavill, Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra on the recording set. The capture shows the actors in the middle of a winter location... could it be about the trio embarking on a new journey? According to the official synopsis that was also revealed, they will have to flee the fate that Ciri holds as the prey of multiple enemies just because they possess the ancient Blood and a very dangerous power.

“Our family is back together Season 3 is officially in production! ”, wrote the official account of the series in the caption of the image. For now, it is unknown when Geralt de Rivia will return to the platform's catalog, but it is expected that it will be between this and next year. Cavill and more stars from the main cast will resume their characters in the long-awaited continuation of this dark fantasy adventure.

What will season 3 of The Witcher be about?

The streaming giant also made the plot of the new episodes official and we will again see that the princess of Cintra will have to escape under the protection of the sorcerer: “While monarchs, wizards and beasts of the continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri de Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his family, finally assembled, against those who threaten to destroy it. Yennefer is in charge of Ciri's magical training and takes them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl's untapped powers.”

The last thing we saw about The Witcher was that Ciri was chased by different monsters, having unleashed her mysterious power at the end of the first season. Throughout the second installment, Geralt had to face several of these creatures that entered his world from a portal. When the young woman tries to sacrifice herself to make this threat disappear, both she, he and Yennefer see that the wild hunt will take their lives.

Also known as the Wraith of Mörhogg, this is a group of wraith riders who have often served as the harbinger of wars and deaths. In the Elven world, they are known as Dearg Ruadhri, which translates from the ancient language to Red Horsemen. Eredin Bréacc Glas is their king and previously, when they were still elves, he served as general of the command. The purpose of the creepy beings is to find and capture slaves from different worlds to grant their allegiance to the People of the Alders.

In Andrzej Sapkowski's literary saga and video games, they take an antagonistic role and follow in the footsteps of Geralt de Rivia to capture Ciri a long time after he trained her in Kaer Morhen, the fortress and barracks of the sorcerers' guild that is located between the mountains. They have crossed paths multiple times with the protagonist and his ally, Yennefer, in the original story.
