The famous couple of the humorous show Sábados Felices since last year revealed that their son is homosexual and since then has not stopped expressing affection and support for him.
But recently in the edition of Día a Día on the Caracol channel, the 'Gorda Fabiola', recalled very gratifying episodes they have had in the family, as others not so much because of the intolerance of people.
Regarding Nelson Jr's condition, he pointed out with his particular grace “it didn't turn out gay to me, it came out gay to dad” said the 'Fat' laughing again joking “I said: 'Promise me something, Daddy, that you don't touch my purses, shoes and cosmetics”.
Fabiola pointed out in the program that the first to find out was her husband Moilla and then in a conversation he confessed it to her: “We hugged, we cried, 'I will never stop being your mother, nor adoring you. For me, you are the best son in the world. '”
But not only did she remember good moments, the 'Fordita' Fabiola, pointed out that despite the great love that emanates from the house, intolerance and bad moments often occur: “It is difficult... especially because of the social point”.
Regarding this situation, the comedian recalled the occasion when her son in commemoration of gay pride day, she decided to hang the flag of the LGBTIQ+ community, but they had to lower it due to the rejections of the group where they live.
“On the weekend when gay pride was being celebrated, my son hung the flag on the balcony. We had problems in the group where we live and they made us lower the flag, we know that he is going to have those problems and with our love as parents we must accompany him”, commented at the time the couple of comedians.
Fabiola concluded by pointing out the importance of love and unity in her family to overcome the external problems that may want to happen.
More information from the LGBTIQ+ community: Among the LGBTIQ+ community in the Colombian Atlantic Coast region there is considerable concern that during the past 2021 there was a steep increase in homicides of diverse sexual orientation in that territory in the north of the country.
According to data from the NGO Caribe Affirmativo, 38 murders or femicides of that group were perpetrated in that area, which represents a 78 percent increase compared to these same crimes committed in 2020.
“Compared to previous years, there has been a constant increase in cases of violence since 2017,” is extracted from the report of the Human Rights Observatory of this NGO on the situation of rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people in the Colombian Caribbean.
This NGO blames this increase in violence against the LGBTIQ+ collective on “the setbacks and the breaking of commitments by the current government to the Peace Agreement” and the “entry and reaccommodation of illegal armed actors with their 'corrective' action against what is categorized as' deviant '”, among others.
In addition, according to the report, hate speech by the ruling class that “makes prejudice and violence invisible, recriminating and justifying prejudice and violence” has also increased, as murders increased by 300 percent compared to the 12 recorded in 2017, when the implementation of the peace agreement with the FARC began.
This region, which encompasses nine departments (including the San Andrés archipelago), is experiencing “a remembrance of the cruelest era in Colombian history: threats, murders, massacres and displacements,” according to Caribe Affirmativo.
